  1. Thank you very much, for telling me your experiences and hints, how to make it "workable". We staart shooting end of this week, and I hope the shoot goes smoothly. Greetings from Berlin. steven
  2. I am a focus puller in germany, and after long years shooting with film cameras I couldnĀ“t avoid to get hired on my first HD feature. The DP is also coming from the "film world" and so we will shoot with zeiss primes on a Sony 900 with a P+S Adapter. Has anyone some advice where to get the best "eye focus" with this system? I understood, that the viewfinder gives only about 60% of the HD resolution,so this seems not the right "monitor" to look at. We will have a astro on board monitor on the camera; but is this the real resolution? It is probably also quite difficult to do a quick eyefocus on it in bright sunlight... We will have a 16" HD monitor on set as well, but who knows, where it will be set up,i doubt it is close enough to the camera, that you can really work(focus on it) with it. Has anyone any suggestions about how the job can be made most "practical". Thank you very much. steven
  3. Thank you Wendell, thank you Mitch, I read the discussions from the link you gave me and now the subject is much more clear to me. Greetings from Bavaria. stefan
  4. Hello Patrick, but this means, that if you compare an image created with a 16mm lense with an image of the same ratio/angle of an 35mm lense you get quite different depth of field...sounds a bit odd to me,will try to get some more informations about this topic. Thanks a lot anyway.
  5. Dear colleagues and cinematographers, I am a focus puller and have a question concerning the depth of field I get, when I use 35mm lenses on a 16mm camera. First of all,the movie will be screened on t.v. so the circle of diffusion for t.v.should occur. Due to the prospect of having a more different focal lenght range, for my next project we will have Zeiss T2.1 35mm lenses on our 16mm Arri SRIII camera. Now I compared the ratio and it showed, that for a 24mm(35mm T 2.1) i get roughly the image, a 16mm (16mm T1.3) lense would give me; or for example a 32mm(35mm T 2.1) gives me the same ratio as a 20mm (on a 16mm Zoom Lense) i would get.... Now my question, how deep is my depth of field, for example on the 24mm(35mm T2.1) do I have the depth of field of the 35mm depth of field chart ,or is the depth of a corresponding 16mm lense in this case 16mm T.1.3 my valid reference... Can I use my kelly wheel,or do I need a samuelson hard plastic depth of field calculator, since I am able to change the circle of diffusion for 35mm lenses to the 16mm t.v. value. Thank you very much for any assistance. stefan
  6. Hello there,I am a focus puller and am shooting a tv drama on a SRIII at the moment. Last week I got a report from the lab, saying there is a light spill on the right edge of the frame on two shots on one roll... The shots are not ruined, since it is possible to zoom in a bit to get rid of the problem. What astonishes me a bit,is that the problem occurs only on two prints in the middle of the roll...we change quite often the stock during the day,so there is a little chance that the mag was changed before and after these shots... I checked the mag,it seems to be fine... My theorie,so far is,that the mag maybe was not attached 100% to the body, like when the little red bar is visible...has anybody any experience what problems then may occur...? Thank you very much. Steven
  7. Is there anybody who could help me to find out about a manufacturer of production carts for camera assistants in the US? I am not looking for a magliner ; I have more a even a bit bigger cart in mind, which I saw in use at a feature, where US camera crew was involved... I think there is a company in the greater L.A. area who produces these carts... With many thanks. Steven
