Hi Adam, I noticed that change in look, too. I'll go out on a limb here and say that this episode reminded me a lot of "Twin Peaks". If I remember correctly, the original title for "Twin Peaks" was "Northwest Passage". You also had the lumber truck at the beginning of the "Fringe" episode, and when Peter is in the cafe, you've got the coffee and the pie. Even the scenes in the police station and on the bridge are very reminiscent of both the "Twin Peaks" pilot and certain episodes in the show. In fact, all I could think of was "Twin Peaks" while watching this episode!
