  1. thats funny as hell. Especially the george forman spray and the guy getting rich off selling records to the homeless.
  2. I dont really get it. I dont know what its supposed to convey. PLease explain.
  3. This is for this chiropractors website so I know the time is long, but I was just going off of what he wanted to say. I am very unskilled with video, and this is the first time I set up lights(so I know there are tons of flaws) I rented a Arri softbank kit with 1000 w key, 650 fill and 350 backlight/ I used chimera softbox on key. I shot most all video with 5dmk 11 and zeiss 85mm 1.4. Thank you for your comments, please do not go easy on me as I really do want to learn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qR-ilelCfII
  4. Also Im pretty sure these images are before he was a super gazillionare, and if they do use doors now it is probably because of iconic reasons rather than practical ones. Computer start ups love to tell this ubiquitous story even if its not true. What Jeffy does not say is that his parents were wealthy and they put him through princeton and his parents invested 300k into his business because no other investor would. But this isnt as romantic of a story, so lets stick with the doors/ Im so poor I need doors as a desk. Every rich kid Ive ever known does this type of stuff, its frickin hilarious:) Here is a quote from an article i just pulled QUOTE "starting out from his Garage Jeff Bezos built the foundation of Amazon.com from the garage of his two-bedroom house rented outside of Seattle. He fashioned his first office tables from wooden doors, angle brackets, and two-by-four lumber purchased from Home Depot. This article summarizes the recognizable aspects of Amazon.com's success and lays down lessons learned in the form of tips. You have the opportunity to analyze the tips given here and apply them with prudence to your own business. You as the owner of your own home based business started - or about to embark if you have not as yet started - with the same resources as Jeff Bezos. You are in a similar situation - if not much better position - than the Amazon founder because you have the secret to his success to learn and apply into your own business."
  5. Im sure thats his only desk:) It does not seem like a statement at all:) Where did you pull this image? My tannoys in back, still rockin the same desk too:) Believe me Im no gear slut http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2005-06-07-how-to-record-usat_x.htm
  6. thanks for the idea, but with doors my 5k dollar tannoy monitors will still take up space as there are no speaker stands. My monitors will still sit on the top which will take up space that could be used for my Wacom tablet and mc mix. I dont think Amazon would have a potential client in an office space with a desk made from a door, but I may be wrong. If this was purely about production and i was in a basement, than that may work. I am trying to build a semi-professional studio so that I can meet with clients and present in a professional manner. I appreciate your comments, but Im really looking for a nice setup man. + I am pretty ocd, and i really need an organized space or I get nervous, so the cord organization is necessary as well.
  7. I have been searching a while for a professional desk to edit photos and edit video. I also do music production but I may get 2 desks(one for audio, one for video). Im getting a decent space to edit and want a professional setup since I finally have a little money. Im looking in the 2k-5k range. I dont want wood, Im really looking for compositie so it lasts forever . Thank you for the help
  8. I am looking to buy a decent key light. I mostly do real estate video now and client testimonials for top agents. I am starting to shoot small business commercial as well. One person on a forum recommended this light from bh as a good starter kit http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=257304&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation This is really complex to me. For interior photography all I need is some sb80 speed lights, and they are pretty much the standard. With video there are so many options its making me dizzy. I dont understand why someone would choose fluorescent or the hot lights, or led panels? Basically I want something that can throw great light and wont be obsolete once I get some experience. I shoot video and photos for my job everyday so i progress pretty fast, so I dont want to throw away money.
  9. thank you for the replies. I did the shoot today and rented some Arris lights. I will post my results later this week.
  10. Im shooting a chiropractic office and will probably have the chiropractor treating patients in different rooms and on different machines. I know nothing about lighting for film because i shoot mostly photography, but Im guessing I dont want a very dramatic lighting setup for this and I probably want to go light and bright. What kind of lights should I rent to accomplish this effect, and would I still use the 3 point lighting setup?\ Oh also, is there anything I should watch out for that is a general mistake beginners make(obviously there are a lot) but maybe the most made mistakes. Thank you
  11. I think I found what im looking for, thanks for all the replies! This filter below changes the exposure when turned and it has markings so you know how many stops it is blocking. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/676818-REG/Genus_GL_GNDF_62_62mm_ND_Neutral_Density.html
  12. Thank you for that advice. A variable ND is just what the name implies, you can turn the filter and it goes from dark to light. This way you can get the exact exposure without switching out filters. I learned about this watching a Philip Bloom tutorial and it looked pretty cool.
  13. Im sorry, the full name is variable neutral density filter. This allows you to make the exposure darker without changing the aperture or shutter speed. This is needed if you want to have a really shallow depth of field (which requires an open aperture) while still maintaing the proper exposure.
  14. I only have one lens right now which is the canon 17-40mm L. I was wondering what variable nd filter you guys would buy for this lens. Thank you
  15. thanks alot for the help everyone. I think Im going to buy toon boom storyboard, it looks like it will work.. This board is great, thanks!
