  1. Aww jeez -- thanks for all the birthday love everyone! I spent most of it in a Sushi comatose...

  2. Howdy all! Do you or someone you know work at a grocery/department store with a customer service desk that I could film a very brief scene (about an hour) at? I have been searching high and low and need something ASAP. Thank you!

  3. Hello, My shutter to drive train belt seems to be worn (I can see a bend in it and the movement 'crunches' every 1-2 rotations). Here's a photo of the part that is coming apart in the upper right corner: http://www.sampofilms.com/files/EvolutionBL3/35bl_evo_belt.JPG Does anyone have any techs they could recommend who could service this? Preferably someone who has a timely turn around as I have a shoot next month. Cheers, Nick
  4. I'm not sure if they do but you could give them a call and ask. The last person I had do this was Bernie O'Doherty. Good luck, Nick
  5. Hi Eric, I have a bevy of 16mm short ends in cans that I would be happy to send your way if you can cover shipping. PM me if interested... Cheers, Nick
  6. Just a quick update as I am having ShurCo re-etch a GG for me right now. The catalog linked above is fairly old and didn't have a format I needed (Super TV/Super 1.78 Combo). I talked with Paul and he sent me the latest catalog which had this, as well as other updated formats I thought others might find useful: http://www.sampofilms.com/files/Format_Catalog_01-26-09.pdf He quoted me $405 for the work (this is without the arri glow dye); it's another $275 if you need custom artwork created for the job. Turn around time is 1.5-2 weeks. Cheers, Nick
  7. Hi all, I recently bought an Arri BL2 which came with a custom Super 35mm gate and ground glass. Now, I know the BL2 was never intended to shoot S35, which explains why the eyepiece vignettes the left side of the image. However, I was surprised to find that the video tap showed _almost_ all of the Super 35mm GG. It just slightly vignettes on the left corners of the frame. My question: if I were to find a newer wide angle Arri eyepiece and swapped it out with the original one, would I be able to see almost all of the Super 35mm frame? Has anyone had any experience with this before? I am aiming to shoot S35 1.33:1 ("Big TV") ratio and can deal with slight vignetting in the corners, just not the current loss of the left of frame I am getting with the stock Arri BL2 eyepiece. Cheers, Nick
  8. Thanks Charlie! I will give them a call next week. Also thanks for the tip Tom; I'll keep it in mind if the quote for the work ends up being more than I can swing. Cheers, Nick
  9. Hello, Does anyone know of any place that can re-etch 35BL ground glass? I have one marked for standard 1.85 and would like to have it re-etched for Super35 "Big-TV"/1.85. Thanks, Nick
  10. Hi all, Looking to buy a used 12mm Optar Illumina T1.3 super 16mm lens to complete my kit. PL mount preferred but can do B-mount too... Cheers, Nick Peterson Portland, OR
