Been saying that for years now. Give us the BD and nothing else. Keep the price down.

I always loved that particular scene in the movie so it's great to see some behind the scenes footage of it. Hope that makes it into the Bad Boys II Blu-ray should it EVER come out.

5d mark ii
in D-SLR
Shane Hurlbut, ASC, used a 5D2, 7D and a 1D to shoot 70% of his last feature Act of Valor. He has the advantage of being an excellent lighter and access to an awesome post-house to release a really good looking film.
That being said, every camera has it's issues and workarounds. Lighting for DSLRs is absolutely necessary. If you can light, then I don't see an issue with using the 5D. As to the question of "film" look, check out Act of Valor.
Act Of Valor looks surprisingly good considering just how it was shot.

I liked this version quite a bit. Much better than Tarsem Singhs effort.

I believe that the score is extremely important to the movie. Prime example being Ennio Morricone's beautifully haunting score for Casualties Of War, or indeed any of John Williams scores. They are often like an additional cast member.

What a f@cking mess.

I have no issues with steady cams, I do, however have problems with a lot of the dodgy 3D effects used in some movies.

When movie studios stop releasing crap movies and charging us a small fortune to watch these crappy movies maybe then people will go back to watching movies in cinemas.

Moore's Bond got more and more ridiculous. Almost like a parody of itself. Saying that, there were some good moments if you look hard enough.
-
EH, The Duke had his moments, but quite frankly, Stewart was a hard act to follow. Walter Matthau, before he started acting, was a radioman/gunner staff sergeant on a B-24 Liberator in Stewart's unit, the 453rd Bombardment Group. Daylight bombing over Germany was the most hazardous duty of WWII. 2/3rds of the 8th Air Force guys who took off ended up as casualties or MIAs
It truly must have been a nightmarish flying Hell full of fire and fury, bursting razor sharp shards of flak and demonic black smoke interwoven by hostel enemy fighters spitting white flashes of magnesium and lightening fast streams of lead that pierced effortlessly through aluminum, steel and human flesh.
Always had a soft spot for James Stewart a True American and a fine actor.

This is it. From my understanding it actually used to be public funding from the tax-payer. Then it changed under Bliar so that it now looks like the government are being responsible with your money, when in actual fact it's all lottery funding.
Ah the famed Bliar smoke and shadows trick.

I think the shaky cam in the beginning showed that they were still in fear and looking over their shoulders and fighting for survival.
-
I enjoyed Moore's Bond when I was a kid, but once my balls hit the floor I wanted some one who took the role more seriously.
-
That would be great. At least lately studios have begun to put 2D and 3D versions of a movie on the same disc. Keeps prices down and provides future proofing if you do not have a 3D system.

In all fairness and having been to South East Asia on a number of occasions only a "Westerner" would consider saving his fellow human beings. Google Philippine crab mentality for a fair description.

It's an old 4:3 and the boxing match was both letterboxed and pillared, making it a smaller 4:3 within a larger 4:3 which felt strange to watch.
You've lost half the damned screen area.

A lot of people were complaining that they missed the additional scenes in the credits of the movie. Haven't they learned anything from Iron Man 1&2, The incredible Hulk, Captain America and Thor?

Having enjoyed both of Daniel Craig's outings as James Bond 007 I am really looking forward to his latest offering, Skyfall. Having watched the teaser trailer for it last night and knowing who is in front of and behind the camera I know I will NOT be disappointed.
What are your initial opinions?

I still think that 1920 X 1080P is more than good enough for home cinema.
-
Not nearly as much fun though.

Mr Wheedon is VERY good with characterization . All his work has really strong characters. He excels at it!
I think Joss is a big factor in the success of the film, both because of the above and also his large fan base who came out in droves to see it, spread the word etc.
I bet Warner Brothers are feeling preety sick at turning down his re-boot of wonder woman now!

Totally agree with you. I would also like to see a rebooting of Serenity.

Yes, I think they've got the character right at last. He's not stupid, he's more Autistic.
The Black Widow was pretty good too. At last, we have an actress portraying a super-fit athlete, who stands with the same poise as her gymnast body double. That's always been a problem for me, super heroes on "standby" who come across like the 90 pound weaklings the actors actually are.
I know quite a few people who've been to see this more than once, which is where the money is.
The cinema was packed with young kids when I went to see it, but I didn't hear a peep out of them for the whole 2 hours 20 minutes, and that takes some doing!
Totally agree with you. To me the Banner/Hulk was the main characters. The scene where he is fighting alongside Thor and then punches him was superb. Did you see the look in his face, that weren't dumb that was wise ass.
So true about the kids. It was the same at my cinema, full of teens but silence, except where there was humor then laughing before more silence.

Tom Hardy is one mean mother f@cker in this movie.

The thing that people need to understand is what works in the cinema on a a 80 foot screen does not necessarily work well at home on a 50 inch screen.

You should maybe write a book about your experiences and filming. Would make for an interesting read.
