  1. I've recently been given some 400 ft rolls of 16mm footage that was shot in Berlin & Dresden in 1937 before they were destroyed in World War 2. The trouble, of course, is that for the past 30 yrs they've been kept in horrible conditions. I'm scared to even attempt to run the film through a projector to see what I've got: the vinegar syndrome has taken a significant toll. I took them into a transfer house here in Brooklyn to get an opinion and was told what I already knew: I would need to have a specialist take a look and see if they were even salvageable. Can anyone recommend a house that does this kind of extensive restoration (especially ones you've had success with)? Thanks in advance.
