  1. I'm wondering how many ppl are either using EP Budgeting or Gorilla to do their budgets. I'm wondering if there are any pros/cons to using this software, as opposed to using Excel.
  2. Great! Thanks for all the info guys! Really helpful. :)
  3. Thanks guys for the replies! I'm wondering if the Hi-con film is offered in 100' spools (there's no mention on Kodak's site), which I'll be shooting using a Bolex. Also, couple more questions: 1. What is the ASA (for Tungsten) on this film? 2. Does this film need to be processed in a special way? I'm assuming that all I have to do is to ask the lab to process the Hi-con like a regular negative film. Right? 3. My film is in colour, so was wondering if the Hi-con film will cut well with the rest of my film. Thanks again!
  4. I'm shooting titles, and upon the advice of everyone here (many thanks!), I managed to get a clear negative (aka Kodalith). BTW, all the printing places I talked to had no idea what a Kodalith was. Most places don't use negatives anymore (let alone Kodaliths), so be prepared for a lot of shopping around. In any event, I'll be shooting my titles by backlighting the clear negative sheets, and was wondering what B&W 16mm film to use. I'm thinking about either Double-X or Hi-Con. Considering that my source (the clear negatives) is already hi-contrast, does it make a difference whether or not I shoot using hi-con film, or will double-x do? Many thanks!
  5. I understand that the frequency range of a 16mm optical track is between 80Hz to 6.5KHz, and that that too much sound outside this range will cause distortion. In considering 16mm's narrow frequency range, is it a good idea to filter or EQ out frequencies outside 80Hz to 6.5KHz? Is this something that sound studios do when they master sound for 16mm? I'm wondering if it's worth having a professional master my sound (as opposed to myself who'll be adding a little bit of compression and limiting). Any opinions? Thanks for any input!
  6. I'm also wondering if I'm under any obligation to let the cut actors know that they won't appear in the film, and whether or not it's appropriate to invite them to the eventual screening. Thanks again for any input.
  7. Hi, I've had to cut out a few scenes out of my movie. Consequently, some of the actors who appear exclusively in those scenes won't be in the finished film. What is the general protocol in these situations? Do you put them in the credits? If so, under what category? I was thinking about putting them in the "Special Thanks To" section, or perhaps I should just leave them out altogether. Also, do you credit your extras? Many thanks for any input!
