  1. I own an Eclair ACL Super-16 package and a DVX100. I've owned a Eclair NPR and them moved up to an Arri SR I. Sold the SR and bought the ACL. I consided selling my all my film cameras and getting the HVX200, but I love film and can't give it up. The DVX100 has paid for itself through work. I haven't had the ACL long enough, but I may have a feature coming up which would cover over half what I paid for it. (I got if off Ebay cheap.) Scott
  2. I'm glad you found my site helpful. It's just the teacher in me coming out. Scott
  3. I'd go with either Kodak 200T or Fuji 250T. The Fuji is a bit cheaper and makes great pictures. Both have good grain structure and are fast enough so that you don't have a giant light package. Scott
  4. I was shooting a film(Super-16) project recently and had to train one of our crew members on the slate, so that's where this tip originated. When you break it down, there are lots of little procedures which are all illumnated in this tip. This tip can apply to shooting video too, especially if you shoot using a sperate audio recorder and it's good for general record keeping to help your editor. Check it out at: Scott Spears' Filmmaking Page Hope you find this helpful. Scott
  5. Hey, Go to my site: Scott Spears Filmmaking page I have articles and video tutorials which you may find helpful. Chek out the article on low budgeting lighting and the video tips; china lanterns and grip kit goodies. Scott
  6. Thanks everyone. Finding china lanterns has become harder as of late. Pier One now only carries colored china lanterns. Target used to have them, but I haven't seen them recently. Ikea still has them, but there aren't a lot of Ikeas. I did find china lanterns at a new agey/head shop in an small college town in Boone, NC, so shops like that could be a source. Scott
  7. Hello People, When I have some spare time, the teacher in me comes out and I make some little video clips to help newbie filmmakers. I've done tutorials on: China lanterns, grip kit goodies, c-stands, lighting units and the latest is on white balance. Also, I've written some artilces on filmmaking that are on the same web page, so check those out too. Scott Spears Filmmaking Page A little about me; I'm an Emmy Winning DP with 20 years experience with 19 features, tons of shorts, music videos and commerical. I'd do some teaching on the side at seminars, etc..., so that's why I do these clips. To keep teaching and sharing. Enjoy. Scott
