If you take the film with you, take it as carry-on luggage. Insist on having it inspected and NOT x-rayed, and be prepared to spend an extra hour at check-in getting that done. Same goes for taking the exposed stock back, of course. The risk and inconvenience make it worth trying to avoid. Consider buying your stock when you arrive and consider processing locally. If that doesn't appeal, talk to Fedex about shipping unprocessed stock: as they operate their own flights it's easy for them to avoid x-raying clearly identified packages.
