Hello DAVID:
I seek a more natural organic look like that of the older lenses if thats possible. Subtle is what I seek like the look of Cooke lens (dont have the money for those :( )

Hello fellow members:
I own a set of SONY CINEALTA LENSES and while I am very happy with them I do wish they weren't as sharp as they are. Is there a filter to give them a more organic not as sharp look? I wish for it to be as pronounced as the TIFFEN pro mist filters out there.

So I have heard from a number of cinematographers that pushing your cameras ISO to 3200 asa will get you a more textured look, and more film like highlights. My question is do you stop down on the lens afterward setting your camera to 3200, or do you put on a ND? The DP who mentioned this used an arri mini and his cinematography looked very film like. My F35 is native 450 iso so I am unable to try this with that camera.
Thanks

Hello group:
So I am about to possibly shoot my feature and the producer is pushing me to have it shot on red epic which he access to. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the red camera look and would prefer a different camera. I have seen a lot of things shot on the arri alexa/ and mini and would love to shoot with it. The issue is I have never shot with the camera and I am unfamiliar how to push it to get the best image. What worries me is I downloaded some test clips to do color grading on and for the life of me I am unable to make the images have the look of film as I have seen others do with the same camera. Since it is test clips i dont have the information about what lenses were used etc. The footage i have graded from the test clips looks very digital, what I hate about RED. I ve seen enough arri footage to know that this camera is capable of achieving some great looking film like images so i dont want to discount it. However it is going to be hard for me to talk the producer to go with a more expensive camera if i cant achieve better images then the RED. Shooting with expensive anamorphic lenses aside what is something i might be missing in getting a professional look out of the camera.
thanks

Hello group:
I am interested in buying a set of lenses from this place however I don't know of anyone that has done business with them. Usually when I buy something really expensive I want to see it with my own eyes before purchasing it. I ve emailed them and all they do is online transactions even though they are located in california as I am. The owner suggested I arrange to have the lenses delivered to a rental house so I can inspect them there. My fear is that all of this will add great cost to the lenses. Just curious if anyone has had any experiences purchasing from them?ThanksO.R -
How does the euro translate to us currency? I am interested but wondering if there is a added fee in ordering from outside the U.S

Hello I am in the market for a set of the SONY CINEALTA 4K PL LENSES. Is anyone planning to upgrade or willing to sell their lenses? Or do you know where I can acquire some for less the 13k they go for online?
Thanks

Hello group:
So I am trying to achieve the stylized lighting of Roger Deakins and I read that he uses a lot of bounce light off bleached muslin. My question is could achieve a similar look diffusing a kino flo through bleached muslin material? To me it seems it would be easier to simply diffuse a kino and save the step of bouncing say an HMI to an ultra bounce and then through another layer of diffusion. Is the quality difference that great?
Thanks

I envisioned a certain look to a particular scene. And he said that it was his decision to make in terms of what the look should be.

So I have been having issues with veteran DPS who arent willing to colloborate to achieve a common vision. I have decided to find a talented young DP ripe out of film school. My only issue is I dont know where you find these type of DPS. Everyone on this forum seems to be veteran experienced DPS. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello
We are seeking a talented DP to shoot our indie thriller "Angel". The film is a cross between La Femme Nikita and Alice in wonderland. The film is highly stylized and requires a DP that can embrace a strong visual narrative. We will be shooting with the RED ONE MX CAMERA. If you are interested and require more information please submit your reels to SOCALISTUDIOS@YAHOO.COM. Or respond on this post.

This looks like it was done by Joseph Kahn? He might respond on twitter if you ask him about it, I think he even shoots his own stuff.
Not likely to answer my question. He blocked me because I asked him how much his film made in the box office. I wasnt even trying to insult him, but anyways maybe his DP will answer my question. He goes on the reduser forums.

The interior looks like Cool White fluorescent tubes were used with the camera set to 3200K.
Thanks David
Man this website is the best. First post answered by a gifted mainstream DP.

Hello talented DPS
First of all I wanted to say hello, as this is my first post in this forum. I ve seen articles from this forum before and they are always insightful. I just wanted to see if any of you gifted DPS can figure out how the look was achieved in this Eminem video. I am working on a film soon and i want to get the same contrast and texture of this video. From the information i have been able to gather this video was shot with the RED MX and anamorphic lenses. What i want to figure out is how it was lit. My guess is kino flos.
Thank you in advance
