  2. Why is 25 fps even an option?
  3. So I would need a transmitter if I wanted to take an item that is powered via a plug in cable and make it battery powered? ("truly" portable)
  4. Greetings, I recently purchased two Sylvania Sun Guns, I mainly shoot on the following: Bolex 5120: Super8mm Bauer C5 XL: Super8mm Krasnogorsk 3: 16mm Canon Scoopic: 16mm The Sylvania models are: The Sun Gun I and II models Is there a safe way to use a diffuser with these bad boys? I am interested in the Sun Gun made by Slyvania that is both a flood and spot light. What can these features offer me?? I know these bad boys can get dangerously hot. Is there a way to take a device that plugs into get power into an outlet and make it plug into a portable battery? Also whats the deal with these things: Cine 60 Sun Guns? How would LED lights effect super8 and 16mm filmmaking? I recently held on for a friend who was shooting with Canon 5D or 7D not sure but it was fun and I enjoyed shifting the temperature and viewing the viewfinder of the camera to see the effects when I shifted the temperature knob. I would like some advice and general input from this community.
  5. HELP! I need some input regarding my cp-16. I got in the mail and somethings looks askew. Here is a link to my filckr account. check out the set cp-16 and and inspect and inform me please, I deeply appreciate it. here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93626579@N07/26579@N0 it is missing the switch below were it says frame rate 24 frames. also if you look on img_1958, img_1954,img_1953,img_1952,img_1951 you will see something that doesnt look kosher, at least to me the wire is way too exposed, is that normal?. one of the mics is bent, are they even usable? do they have an active function for or with the camera? img_1963 & img_1965 are extras that I guess came with the camera?
  6. gasoline lamps are intriguing..I wonder how much light those bad boys throw out? Has anyone else on here EVER use one?
  7. What is the lens situation with this camera. The mount is CP but apparently there are a few adapters(what are they) that allow me to use other types of camera lens. So basically what I am asking are what are some of the lenses I can use for this camera? They are super expensive and seems like I will have to save up a whole lot before I can actually use this bad boy, unless.... Are there any places in NYC I can rent a lens for for a CP-16R? I know there is the 12-120, and 10-150 ( what does the T number value mean next a lens?) Is there a way for me to figure out which 16r I have, like which shutter degree the 170 which apparently causes a problem that can fixed (something smearing light that can ruin the look of your shot) or the other one which has a smaller shutter degree
  8. Jayne you could also get a light gun on ebay, these things work wonders and if you get two or even three, then your got ghetto hollywood lighting lol, the LEDs are cool I just used one 2 days ago however my friends were shooting DSLR. Whats cool about the LED light kit I used was the fact the there were 2 cranks for hot and cold lighting on the side, it got me thinking about LED lighting and I am def gonna buy one of those and try to mix it up with my light guns. old super 8 light guns work wonders and charms and so do the LEDs ( the newer little brother to the old school light guns) I say if you have the bread use em both if your got budget go straight for the LED lights, if you got time and a budget for the super8 light guns on eBay Sidenote: as a fellow new yorker super 8 enthusiast Matt, that is AWESOME! shooting in the subway can be disastrous, at least for me, now I know, put it manual and keep it wide at 2, but yeah Tri-X is awesome Question: was there ever like a superior b&w film stock for super 8 like Eastman Double for 16mm and 35mm.. What was Plus X? Does Fuji have a b&w 8mm stock?
  9. Thanks again Brian!!!, that manual isn't the official manual. Someone should inform the people who put out that manual, I believe its for a school...that the terminology in the manual is incorrect.
  10. Thank you Philippe Lignieres I find what you said last which I quoted above to be most fascinating. Thank you
  11. Can a manfrotto 128LP head handle the cp-16 with 400ft Mitchell magazine + plus lens( i dont have one yet but assume the angie 12-120)
  12. If the cp-16 doesn't have a registration pin why is there one mentioned in this manual: http://www.evergreen.edu/medialoan/aps/docs/cp16manual.pdf pg 11 Also when recording sound with this, can I use a zoom H4N and plug it into the camera? Can only tape units plug into the camera?
  13. Thank you so much Zac. Your insight is deeply appreciated. Cheers!
  14. Ok next questions: the guy is gonna send it to me without a case I am worried about the mount hole? I want that protected because this camera does not come with a lens. also is this a good lens? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CANON-ZOOM-2815150mm-CMOUNT-LENS-BOLEX-CAMERAGEARS-/270982826569 this is what i won: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CP-16-R-Cinema-Products-16mm-camera-/181092058604?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=CPN7fhgYc14Qjcq6SgQ6WTr0G8A%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc weigh in
  15. So this is not a registration pin problem?
  16. So this is a harmless problem? Nothing major, Just a threading issue related to loop sizes?, one has to be bigger than the other much like if you removed the loop informers on a K3 one loops is longer/shorter then the other.
  17. So this could be just a problem related to film threading/loading?

    CP-16r

I just won a cp-16r but the seller is now informing that there is a lost loop or up and down registration problem. this is the video he sent me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WPTJHWay4A&feature=youtu.be what do you folks reckon the problem is? Can I get it serviced and fixed? About how much would that cost?
  19. Hey I am interested in the Marine 8. Still got one for sell?
  20. Hey Gang, I just purchased a Canon Scoopic MS off eBay. It came loaded with a Pro DV. 6X Wide Angle Adapter on the lens. I've shot a test with it on to test out the camera itself, I will have to do another without this adapter lens. This film is currently at the lab so I've yet to see it. When the lens is on the camera I can not use the zoom feature but it appears (at least thru the viewfinder, to me) that it is wide angle lens. (I am used to K3's so when you want a wide angle you get a Peleng 8mm fisheye or a Zenitar 16mm fisheye lens.) With the Pro DV .6X Wide Adapter on my lens the focus is for just I was wondering if this would make my camera a wide angle lens, but by how much? What is Pro DV .6x Wide Angle Adapter C62766? Is this similar to a Wide Angle lens adapter? P.S Has anyone ever used or have for sell a Canon Scoopic 400ft magazine adapter. The Scoopic takes CP 16r magazines and Mitchell 400ft Magazines, any one have a spare one of these they wanna get rid of ?
  21. Greetings, Does anyone have a 400ft adapter for the Canon Scoopic 16mm camera? I hear these things are pretty rare. Can one be made?
  22. What about using an MC MTO 11ca 1000mm lens on a K3? Can this even be done? Should this be done? I was thinking about filming the moon/ astronomy stuff. http://www.dvdtechca...5slrl/99/99.htm The lens has always set @ f/10. How would I go about capturing a full moon or astronomy photos at night? Either with a K3 16MM or just on 35mm SLR still camera?(non-digital) ? Also what would a teleconverter do to my peleng lens on the k3? Make it a 16mm lens? How would the edges be, if you had to take an educated guess? Much thanks to all of you for helping me :D
  23. Hey I just got my Canon Scoopic 16MS and I was wondering if anyone has the 400 adapter? I am looking to purchase one :D
  24. Do they still make 200 ft 8mm cartridges?
  25. poop I was gonna buy that lens before I saw the Peleng! Know anything about that cool 1000mm telephoto lens?
