  1. Thanks so much for your help. I am going to check out some of those lights at NAB. Hopefully I can find something that will work for what I need. Thanks again. John
  2. The title says it all but first some background . . . I have a client who I have been working with for a while now and they are ramping up production on three new shows that they want to produce in HD. The deal is that I am going to DP their shows and maintain the equipment, and they?ll foot the bill. They?re great clients and good friends so I want to make sure that I get exactly what they need to do the job right. It?s a very hard thing to have a huge HD budget and not get carried away with getting all the toys that I want. However, I know what they need and I just want to figure out the best way to put this together. My question involves lighting, and that?s why I?m posting here: I am getting two Kino Flo Diva lights and three 650 fresnels for my basic lighting setup. I feel that those lights will get me through most of the interviews and some other basic lighting setups that I need. However, most of the stuff that I will be shooting requires some very quick running and gunning. Basically, shooting in tight spaces with very little time to setup. Here?s a typical situation . . . I will be shooting the talent on the streets of N.Y. and we will be following them into and out of various shops. We will have permission to shoot in the shops, of course, but I don?t think that I will have too much time to set up proper lighting. What kind of lighting would you guys suggest I use in this situation? I was looking at on camera lighting but I don?t want the harsh shadows and dark backgrounds (basically I don't want it looking too newsy.) So I was thinking about HMI on camera lighting or even the Kino Flo Ring Light but I?m not too sure that I?ll get what I need. I am looking forward to any and all of your suggestions. Thanks in advance. John DeMaio
