Can i get anyones opinion on Default Sony Vegas Pro 11/12 Effects and Red Giant effects?

My self and my business partner are starting a media production company and to start off our portfolio, we helped direct/produce/edit a video for a local rap artist from Boston. I wanted to have the video criticed so i can see what could've been done to the video to make it better. Done with: Samsung Galaxy SIII (right before purchasing our DSLR/what we had at short notice) Sony Vegas Pro 12 Originally shot at 1080p 120fps (Sony Vegas said that in the properties) Formated at 1080p 24fps

I'm new to cinematography and i'm currently using a Nikon D3100. I'm looking for best overall settings for recording in HD. Would i better off with 720 60p? 720 25p? 720 24p? 1080 24p? 1080 25p? I'm also more into more of a film look as opposed to more of the modern styles without having to purchase a camcorder.
