  1. I wonder if you watch TV shows? If yes, what is your favorite show?

For a long time it was: "The West Wing". I just loved it, altought i am more a Fan of Sci-Fi stuff.

Then of course The Big Bank Theory. I LOVE Sheldon, he is just an As***

I started to watch The Walking Dead but after 8 Episodes i have had enough....

I also Loved all the Stargate Series and Falling Skies as well als Under the Dome

    Your Turn

  2. I used to have a Moviecam Compact (stolen)

Unfortunately I can not show off with a lot of Cameras but i am a very happy owner of a Arri SR2 Advanced Super16 (advanced as converted by P+S Technic for 12p/s / 75p/s)

I also own a Canon DS8 and a little Bolex D8L which i litterally cary around everywhere in my daily life :)

I used to have a GH5, but i sold that just recently. The Digital World is not my World.

  3. I've been thinking about 16x9 framing in super 8 lately. I'm almost prepared to have my camera modded, but I have a few questions.

I would not touch a running Camera. Modding is nice, but especcially at 8mm difficult to "widen" the gate with a vile and the polish.

I personally have a Canon DS8 (double super8) and i put a Anamorphic Adapter onto the Lense (1.33). That gives me fairly a 16:9 AR.

Have a look at Maxims Adapters. I was sceptical first but he does a nice Job. I have one of his Adapters and it works just fine

    http://www.vormax.org/anamorphic-lens-1-33x

PS: I consider to sell my Canon DS8 if i have a fair Offer.

  4. Welcome back!

Yea that's really cheap, but there are people out there who don't know the value of gear. I actually got my completely re-built and fully working XTR Prod for less than that, but it was a crazy, messy story.

That lens tho... gulp, that's worth double the camera easily. I'm kinda shocked someone would sell it for so cheap. Gotta be careful about deals that are too good be true, there is a lot of theft out there. :(

    i bought from a production company :)

  5. if i may give my 5ç to this post?

maybe you could beat your frustration with starting your own development? i fully agree...N8 and S8 development nowaydays are ridiculous.

so what i did, i purchased a LOMO UDP-1 Tank on ebay. and chemicals i have from http://www.fotoimpex.com/

you need a developer, a stopper, a fixer and a wetting agent. the chemistry is ridicolous cheap. and it makes some real fun. if you need help, just pm me.

    randy

PS: i also just ordered some ECN2 chemistry for kodak vision 3 film!!

  6. Jake, you can buy cameras from camera technicians. All of them have a number of models wrapped up against dust. We techs know what we do and what you can do with a given model. To be quite frank, I sometimes purchase via ebay but I almost always make contact with the seller, ask questions, deliberate about a deal. The cameras I sell come with a three years warranty, effective since August 1st, 2018. Guess that’s worth something.

i agree with simon. i also got two cameras on ebay, a bolex D8 and a canon DS8 and both are working BUT...i think it depends on the situation what you want to do. if you are on a serious aproach, then i highly recomend buying from a professional technician (like simon is!! he lives just 30min. from my place and i know him personally and can warmly recomend him. he knows what he is doing)

i also just recently bought a Arri SR2 but this was from a production company who had their cameras maintenanced by arri in munich, germany. this will be used for serious projects like music videos, shorts etc... as i use the other cameras just for hobby easy peasy stuff :)

  7. Finally i am back in Business. After ma Moviecam Compact was stolen from a British Guy (who actually is a registered Member here) i am a happy owner of a nice Film Camera again.

It took me a few Years to save up for a new Camera as i am dealing with serious Health Condition (Heart Condition, kiddney failures etc...) and therefore my income comes from Health Insurance. A few days ago i could get a sweet ARRI SR2 Super16 - Advanced (12fps <-> 75fps) with two fresh recelled Batteries (recelling was just 4 months ago) a Charger, 2 Mags, a Ocular Extender and a Arri Lense Support Fork (for FF and MB) If i told you that the Camera was about 1800 US$ you probably wouldn't believe it, would you? haha.

I also got a High Speed Zeiss 16mm lense for about 600$.

i think it was a good Deal

    Your Oppinion?

  8. Randy, how did you come across your spare? It looks new?

i once purchased it with the plan in my head to build a 16mm telecine unit. but im to lazy to start. so i give it away. yes it is a new unit. never used.

  9. Hi all,

Yesterday i found an Original Cinemeter II on Ebay and paid nearly 350$. After a little research i found that these Meters are very seldom so i took a chance and bought it.

Since i am a happy (new) owner of an Arri SR2 S16 i tought this Meter is perfect as i dont really trust the internal Lightmeters in Cameras. I am aware, there is a iPhone App for this and they say the App is pretty accurate but i just dont like such Apps in general. So, what do you think? Were the 350$ worth to investment ?

  10. I have a client selling one for $29K USD. Includes 3 400' mags, 2 Batts (1 needs to be re-celled) and 2 chargers.

    Located in the US.

    Thanks,

    Norm

29k is Ridiculous. even if it would come with newly recelled Batteries. I just had an Offer for a 416 with 2 Mags and 2 Batteys and 1 Charger for 11k Euros.

You should ask Rental Houses and not looking on Camera Markets. Rental Houses sometimes have Film Cameras they want to get Rid off. And these Cameras are mostly in a perfect maintained Condition.

    Just my 5cents

  12. Hi

I'm about to shoot 16mm Film on the Seychelles. I will use Kodak 7207 and 7219. Does anyone know a reliable International Courier who does not Scan my Material? I'm doing a Music Video with a Singer. transport of Film is from Germany to the Seychelles and Back.

    Thanks

    Randy

  13. The Five C's of Cinematography by Joseph V. Mascelli is my Number 1

also the MasterShot's Series is good.

BUT i stopped reading Books and purchased a 1 Year Membership at MZed. These are Cinematography Masterclasses each running 6 hours and more.

They contain litterally everything you need to know, Vincent Laforet's Masterclass is brilliant. The best thing ever. It costs you a lil bit but it's worth every cent!!
