  1. Hi Min, Thanks for getting in touch. Please send me a private message with your email address and/or phone number and we'll coordinate. I'm pretty sure the Zeiss CP.2s will work fine on it, but I think I can double check that for you today and confirm. Thanks! Rich
  2. I'm lowering my asking price and offering an option: $6,200 for the package as described OR... $5,500 if you don't care about getting two crystal sync motors. Included is your choice for one of the two crystal motors and everything else.
  3. For sale is my beautiful 2-perf (Techniscope) Arri 3C (IIIC) camera package. This camera was never a rental and it looks like it's hardly ever been used, it's in such beautiful condition. I've owned it since 2009 and during that time I found and bought an original Arri factory 2-perf conversion kit, which was installed by the technicians at Clairmont Camera in North Hollywood. I'm guessing everyone here knows why 2-perf is so great. But just in case... basically you get twice the run time from the same amount of film. A 400' roll of 35mm film running at 24 fps lasts about 8 minutes instead of the usual 4 minutes. A 200' short end is suddenly not a pain to work with since it lasts about 4 minutes. So that means you spend half as much money on film stock and processing since that's paid by the foot, too. The aspect ratio is naturally 2.40:1 at the gate so it's well suited to that cinemascope look, but much less expensive than anamorphic on film stock/processing (not to mention lens rental costs). If you wanted to shoot 1.85:1 on this camera, you could have the ground glass pencilled with two vertical lines to create 1.85 within the 2.40, and you'd still have roughly twice as much negative area than if you shot 1.85 on Super 16. I know of a feature film that just wrapped which did exactly that. Some recent and beautifully-shot 2-perf films: "Hunger", "Shame", "The Place Beyond the Pines", "American Hustle", "The Fighter", "Silver Linings Playbook", to name a few. Includes: - Arri 3C Camera body with PL mount port cap, body (magazine) port cap, in custom shipping case - Custom-made by Shurco 2-perf 2.40:1 Arri-3 style ground glass, with clear plastic case - Panavision (PV) Mount (PL mount currently installed, centered on Academy, not Super) with some shims - Cinematography Electronics Crystal Motor Base (could also be used with an Arri 2C, best motor you can get for these cameras) - Arriflex 3C Crystal Handgrip Motor (12V) with screws and gear (could also be used with an Arri 2C, a very rare item) - Italian Flatbase Motor Adapter Plate for above handgrip motor (ECE - ROME), untested - Custom Samcine Hand Held Support Brackets for IIC/IIIC in small hard shipping case - 2x 400' Arri 3 mags in a 2-hole mag case - 4x 200' Arri 3 mags in a 4-hole mag case. Note, two of the mags need some minor servicing. One looks like it's never been used - 2x 400' Fromm Shoulder Mags with spare rubber belt drives and 1x adjustable shoulder bracket (no case) - Jurgen's Orientable Video Door for 3C with Sony Color CCD camera - Arri Hand Held Door for 3C - Arri Orientable Door for 3C - Arri Straight Door for 3C with 2x Anamorphic desqueeze lever - Flat cover for above Straight Door if anamorphic dequeeze module is to be removed - Wide Angle Deniz Eyepiece with rubber eyecup that has shutter that can close - Spare Arri Eyepiece with rubber eyecup -push eye against eyecup to open shutter type, helps prevent light leaks - 1x Jurgen's Extension Eyepiece - 1x Arri Extension Eyepiece - 1x Arri Right Handgrip (no on/off switch) Arri Rosette style attachment - 1x Rosette to Rosette extension arm (adapter bracket needed/not included to use with above handgrip). Bracket pictured in hand held mode is not included) - 1x Unknown Brand Balance Plate Top A35/S35 switchable, like BP-9 (for 15mm rods) - 1x Van Diemen Balance Plate Bottom (Dovetail) ~12" - 2x 12V 4-pin XLR to 4-pin XLR power cables, one with a pigtail - 3x Power Cables for Jurgen's Video Door - 2x Medium Carbon Fiber rods (15mm) - 2x Medium rods (15mm) - 2x Short rods (15mm) - 1x SR2/SR3 type LWS 15mm bracket with 2x screw-in extension rods (for attaching to front of CE Flat Crystal Motor Base - Arri grease The inching knob (shutter/frame advance knob) has three holes drilled in it which was done to attach a hand-crank module from Clairmont Camera for a commercial (shot before the 2-perf conversion). Due to the 2-perf conversion, the Cinematography Electronics Crystal motor base does not count footage correctly. Simply divide the readout by half for an accurate footage count. I've created an album on Flickr with quite a few photos. On the wide photo with everything, you may notice two smudges. I've erased two items which I realized after the fact have no relevance or use with this package. I've also included some frame grabs from a music video I made with this camera after the 2-perf conversion. It was a joy to shoot with, performing flawlessly with not one instance of a hair in the gate. It was almost entirely shot with short ends of 200' or less. If you're not familiar with the 3C, you could think of it as the final refinement of the 2C before the Arri 35-3 came out, mostly designed as a result of engineering Arri did to the 2C for the German WW2 film "Das Boot". It has an orientable door which keeps the horizon level as you reposition the eyepiece up or down (on the 2 doors here that let you swivel the eyepiece up/down). It has a more sturdy hinged door (not interchangeable with the Arri 35-3 door), unlike the metal prongs which hold the 2C door to the body. That design was never intended for the weight of a Jurgen's video door and I've seen a few 2C bodies that are wearing out where these prongs grip, making it risky that the door could fall off. The 3C came from the factory with a PL mount, and it has a very nice crystal handgrip motor which is often sought after since it works just as well on the 2C. Something else I like about the 3C, they have a variable shutter, something that's hard to find on a 2C. The 3C also has a rosette for mounting accessories, right by the inching knob. The 2C doesn't have that. This is a beautiful example of the very rare Arri IIIC. The 3C movement is the same as the 2C movement and motors, mags and of course ground glasses are interchangeable. It took me many years to assemble this package so at least initially, I won't consider splitting off pieces of it. That said, feel free to get in touch if you're interested in something, and I'll keep you in mind. Available for $6,500 Or Best Offer. Available to see in NYC or Los Angeles, if you cover shipping costs to LA. For convenience, preference will be given if there is a buyer in the NYC (1st) or Los Angeles (2nd) area who will pick up in person and pay cash. I live in NYC but have friends/family in LA who can coordinate a sale in LA for me. Please check out the pictures and shoot me a private message if you're interested or if you have any questions. Thanks for looking! Rich https://flic.kr/s/aHskwM83a3

  7. Thanks, the 16M camera has just sold. Still available: Tobin Crystal TXM-22 motor (with Super 16 modified 16S thrown in) Tobin Crystal TXM-22A
  8. Thanks for the interest! Replies sent. I've been an industry rep for over eight years now. I'm a Camera Rental Agent, but I'm not here on the forum to represent my company. It was just the best descriptor for what I do... but I likely will be getting more involved just because cinematogrpahy is something that's always interested me. Maybe I'll change that descriptor so I don't need to worry about anything I write being interpreted as possibly representing my employer's views... I've been reading the forum for years.
  9. This blimp is still for sale and I am lowering my asking price to $600.00. Please also see this other post for related cameras/accessories that I'm also selling: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=61571 Thanks for looking, Rich
  10. Hi Bjorn, Sorry, I've just noticed your reply. I didn't see the "follow this topic" option when I created this. I've just sent you a message to follow up and checked the "follow this topic option". I am still selling these items if anyone is interested. Thanks! Rich
  11. Just wanted to post this one picture here but there are more in the link above
  12. I purchased this Arri 3C in the big Otto Nemenz auction around the middle of 2012. I did a registration test with good results after buying it but have otherwise not used the camera. Includes: - Arri 3C Camera body with PL mount port cap, body (magazine) port cap, accessory mounting bracket, Super 2.35 ground glass (could be Super 2.40, not sure) in shipping case. - Cinematography Electronics Crystal Motor Base (could also be used with an Arri 2C) - Arriflex 3C Crystal Handgrip Motor with screws and gear in plastic cup. - 6x 400' Arri 3 mags in 2x 3-hole mag cases - Jurgen's Orientable Video Door for 3C with Sony Color CCD camera. - Wide Angle Eyepiece (no rubber eyecup is included) - Arri grease - Arri Hand Held Door for 3C PICTURED BUT NOT INCLUDED: Extension Eyepiece. NOT INCLUDED: Rubber Eyecup, Power cables for camera motors to battery, power cables for Sony Color CCD, Balance Plate Top, Dovetail, Rods, Batteries, Lenses, etc. If you're not familiar with the 3C, you could think of it as the final refinement of the 2C before the Arri 35-3 came out. It has a more sturdy hinged door, unlike the metal prongs which held on the 2C door to the body. That design was never intended for the weight of a Jurgen's door and I've seen a few 2C bodies that are wearing out where these prongs grip. The 2C doesn't have that. The 3C movement is the same as the 2C movement and motors, mags and of course ground glasses are interchangeable. The 3C is perhaps best know as the camera Arri made for the film "Das Boot" in the early 1980's. This means this camera isn't nearly as old as most 2Cs floating around out there. I know of four doors made for the 3C, although this package only includes two: Arri Orientable Door (which I've seen can be modified into a video split door) Arri Hand Held Door (included) Arri Straight Door (with optional anamorphic desqueeze module) Jurgen's Video Door (included) I should note, the door type is hinged, but it is not interchangeable with the Arri 3 door. The 3C doors are more rare, as not many of these cameras were made. Also, please see the picture with the note about compatibility with certain lenses due to the PL mount being centered for S35 (as opposed to Academy). Available for only $1,600 O.B.O!!! Available to see if you're in the LA area. For convenience, preference will be given if there is a local buyer who will pick up in person and pay cash. 13. Thanks, Tim! I've found some Tobin motors have a shaft that extends out further than others. For example, the shaft on my older TXM-22 is longer than the one on my TXM-22A. The rubber plunger seems to barely touch my A's advance shaft when that "telephone dial" knob on the blimp is pushed in, and won't advance the shutter. Though I don't remember if i ever tried it, I think the older Arri variable speed or constant speed motors would work fine since they have a cup-shaped advance knob that the arrow-shaped plunger would fit right into. I wonder how many people out there know what we're talking about :)
  14. I'm selling my 16mm Arriflex 16M camera with 3x 400' mags and variable speed motor. Camera was purchased from forum member Tim Carroll maybe 2-3 years ago if I remember right. I had it checked out by a technician and shot a registration test after I got it and it checked out fine. I like the 16M for it's hinged door, simple threading and gear-driven mags (as opposed to the 400' mags for the 16S which have their own separate torque motor). Please see, I'm also selling a beautiful fiberglass blimp that will fit this camera, and crystal-sync motors. I don't have a case for the camera but there is a case for the mags. More pictures on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/95212445@N02/sets/72157633331322365/ $400 O.B.O. __________________________________________________ Consider this a listing for a great Tobin Crystal TXM-22 motor. It comes with a camera, but just think of that as a bonus since the camera may not be worth a whole bunch. I've never shot with it, or with the included mags. I bought it off Craigslist from a DP/Operator on the other side of the country about a year or two ago and one technician who looked at it told me some of the design choices in converting this camera to S16 looked risky and shooting with it may not be worth the risk. I've heard this is one of two or three 16S cameras converted to S16/PL mount by Van Diemen in the UK. It seemed to run fine and the previous owner promised he shot lots of footage on it with no problems so maybe I'm just being paranoid. But! It came with this awesome motor. I actually like it better than the final refinement, the TXM-22A, since the "A" model can't run in reverse. Also included are two of the rare 200' mags for the 16S, although as I mentioned, I never tested them, so this is all "AS IS". There are also two 400' 16S mags. Each mag has it's own torque motor, and I was told by the person I bought these from that they've all been upgraded to be 12V compatible. There is no case for the mags. The camera body case is a bit old looking but still latches closed firmly. The foam is a bit of a mess. No power cables or batteries or lenses are included. 16. I'm selling my very rare Arriflex 16 Fiberglass Blimp. This is for use with either a 16S or a 16M and and mounting plates for both are included. This was purchased a few years ago from forum member Tim Carroll who also ran the great website www.arri16s.com. Tim did a beautiful job of restoring this gorgeous piece of film history. The lens pictured is not included. The 16M camera and mags are not included, although they are for sale separately (see separate listing). They are in these photos only to demonstrate how a camera would fit inside the blimp. I also am separately selling a Tobin TXM-22A motor that would go very well with this blimp. The blimp's shutter advance knob seems just a few mm too short to reach the Tobin's knob, so you may want into fashioning an extension on the rubber knob that reaches toward the motor on the inside of the blimp. One of the two latches is broken on the wooden shipping case but everything made it to me ok with that broken and it's always held shut firmly enough with just the one latch. Also, the power cable that connects a 12V battery (4-pin Cannon) to the outside of the blimp will need to be rewired if you intend to use the blimp for anything besides decoration. This cable provides power for the camera inside to run, as well as power for the interior lightbulbs so you can push buttons and see things inside like the fps tachometer. The cable was just old and brittle and started melting in one spot (a couple of photos are included). The connectors both look fine, so I would guess a technician could make you a replacement cable or two. I just haven't had time to get that done. The seals on the two doors (the top magazine door and the side camera body door) don't seem quite as tight as they were a few years ago so that may be one other thing to have checked if you intend to use it for the purpose it was designed. When I first got this from Tim, it did an amazing job of silencing a very noisy 16S, but I have not tested it recently. The thought that went into the intricate design of this blimp is really impressive. It is in excellent condition. I would love to keep this as decoration for my apartment but I moved to NYC a few months ago and there just isn't space. $800 O.B.O. Please send me a PM if interested. I'm free to show it in Montebello, CA through Tuesday 12/3. If that's too soon, I can coordinate another time for for a relative of mine to show it to you since I'll be heading back to New York. For convenience, preference will be given if there is a buyer in the LA area who will pick up in person and pay cash.
