Hi, I'm running microphone to the Shure FP33 mixer, then output the signal to Marantz PMD661 to record the audio. I purchased an RCA to 1/4 jack cable to run signal straight to the camera from Marantz and realized that RCA cannot be balanced, and Blackmagic requires balanced signal. Damnit. Is there another way to send signal from Marantz to Blackmagic? Thanks

I think it would be easier to move night beach scenes to controlled environment and light them there. I don't need sea on the background anyway, just trees.

By the way are those CN-160 LED lights any good?

DC is not an option. Trucks will be parked far away from actual beach. I can bring small battery powered LED lights but how effective are they?

Possible? I'm shooting a night scene which takes place on the beach. Will be shooting on BMCC 2K in RAW. We cannot bring generator with us to power the lights for legal reasons. Most of the shots will be handheld, on the tripod and track dolly. Characters will be sitting around natural fire, at the moment that's the only light source I can think of. In the past I put some small lights around the fire facing actors to add more light but in this case I can't use them. Any ideas?

Good luck with that 3.5mm jack on Tascam. I wonder how long can you use it until you will have to buy another unit.

Hi, I did some audio tests this morning and when I tried to import audio from the recorder to my macbook i couldn't see a thing. However files play perfectly on the recorder. But when I connect it to the computer via usb or insert memory card into computer the folder is just empty. I did some research on the web and turns out Apple creates some sort of indexing for everything, called spotlight-v100. Recorder starts to write all the files to that folder by default, the problem is that it is INVISIBLE! I'm a little bit disappointed in Marantz now, if they know about this issue why not make some sort of program that will import files. :( Who knows. Can PLEASE somebody tell me how to import audio from recorder to the macbook. Thanks a lot .

Is it possible to remove internal battery of the camera? Why simply not use external batteries like REDs and others do.

My mistake, sorry. I agree film will be around for long time, but the point is that digital is getting closer and closer to replacing film. All those new movies are shot on digital for a reason. And the reason is that when you sit in that dark room eating your popcorn watching next epic masterpiece you won't notice any difference at all.

Lol, funny :) Never saw any dynamic range presets on my Red Scarlet or Blackmagic.
