  1. Ok, Phil, I will try that out and let you know. Andrian, meaning with colour correction, I can get to tweak my production error in post production, alright, thanks.... I think my learning curve grows significantly daily especially with a good site like this. Thanks guys. Phil.."What I wouldn't give to be able to shoot in Nigeria", I don't get that....
  2. Thanks evrybody. Will try checking my exposure. But I have a problem with the audio, when I play the raw file on my system, I can hear d audio, but immediately I import it to premiere pro, there is no audio atall. No audio track, nothing.
  3. I just got a new GH2 and it is sort of my first DSLR camera. Couldn't get the more sophisticated Canon camera because of money. Still a student. However, after much research, i saved up to get a Panasonic GH2 and i have read hundreds of review from people using the camera of how much they loved the camera. I have seen many sample videos of the camera too how they appear beautiful and lovely. However, when I made from first shot from the camera, this is the horrible video i got. Sky totally washed out.... Horrible colour, horrible wind noise, horrible everything. Please is there a setting i should have adjusted. I dint use automatic, i used manual but i think there were so many things i got wrong in the setting. This is my first DSLR camera and it made it look like DSLR are very complicated. Please help out. What should i have done. Dont worry about the shaking aspect, i know i could use a tripod to get a stable image, but the quality is extremely horrible. I don’t seem to like the colour and quality I am seeing. And I have seen many good looking, lovely videos shot with Panasonic GH2. Another problem, when I play the raw file on my system, I get to hear the audio but when I import it in to premiere pro, no audio. What was i supposed to do to get the best out of this camera and shoot good videos like I have seen other people do. Or is this video good? Or is it my eyes?. Please check the horrible videos here http://youtu.be/hOI3aQBGXJs
  4. Joshua, that isn't the answer to the question I asked, thanks for dropping by anyway.
  5. Brian, I have tried doin that, I can't find where to change the name on my profile
  6. Hi, Thanks for all the previous help and advice, u'v all bin of great help to me in this career. I need help pls. After saving for many months, I am finally able to get a Panasonic GH2 as a starter and I know with the camera, I will get to learn more about DSLR cinematography. However, after so much lessons and reading, I know d more the light in a scene, the better the image quality I get. But to make a living where I am here, Events cinematography seem to be the most flourishing here in my country but I am confused about lighting. Most times I will have to shoot wedding reception, award nights and stuffs like that and I know I can't just carry in lights to these event like I would if I was filming a documentary interview. How do I get quality image in this situation, are there any small simple lights I can carry along to events? I want to be very light and simple as possible since there won't be anybody to help me move any of my gadgets here and there. How do I shoot crisp and high quality image with my DSLR in events where sometimes I have to battle with very low light. Are there lights made specificallt for events shooting, Are there any DIY event lights? I hate noise in images. Pls help out and please don't advice me to get a $1000 light kit. I am still a student, tryin to make something out of what I am passionate about
  7. joshua gallegos Make your research properly before commenting. I know of three different directors who made their career with short films.
  8. Adrian, you use red hed... Does it give u any problem. Not like I don't want anytin to do with. I jst want to know if red head won't give me problems
  9. I need your advice. I am getting my first light kit very soon. I have saved so much to get this light kit. I want to get a set of three point red head light since that is the standard lighting set up used(three point lighting). I have been saving for so long like way long and now i am finally able to afford redhead but I am confused. 1. I borrowed one some few days ago to experiment with it and there were so many things i din't like about redhead. 1. it was emitting too much heat and adjusting the head looked like a danger zone which i must be very very very careful before been able to adjust it else i might get my hand burnt. 2. It seemed too bright for me. It can't be dimmed and to use the three light i must have enough space so that i can move the fill light away from my subject to ensure it is not as bright as my key light. 3. I kept having problems with this strong shadow that doesn't seem to want to disappear. I kept adjusting and adjusting the light. 3. The weight was heavy, though not quite heavy. And there is no way i will take it to any office(i shoot more of documentary) without calling attention. People will know someone is here. Doesn't make me conspicuous. 4. I shoot short films too and i don't know if redhead is used to light scenes when shooting film whether short film or feature film. I really love white fluorescent light, they don't generate heat, very convenient to use and all that, but it is just too expensive in my country for me to afford. I am still a student and all i can really afford for now is red light which i have been saving for many months before i could even get the money to buy it. Please advice me, should i go for red head? thats all i could save up to buy and if i plan to save up more to be able to afford fluorescent that might take like forever. What should I do. Please advice me.
  10. Phil Rhodes, The sound we got on location was very bad. We had to lip sync in post production. What do you mean overloaded, like too clear or too loud
  11. You could tweak colours in postproduction. You don't have to use gelled light. If you know how to find your way around twisting colours in postproduction, you can do it
  12. After my first horrible video which almost made me give up if not for your advice, I have given it another shot and I shot a short film on HIV stigmatization. Its a short awareness film in a foreign language but subtitled in English. Please help me check it out and tell me how I fare. Its my second ever shot video. From all the advice I got from you, I have come to discover cinematography is not for the faint in heart or people who give up easily. Please help me check the video out and from your wealth of experience in this field, please "lend" me some advice. Was the shot ok, was there something I could have done better. Thanks for being my elders in this field. Here is it www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vri5ed6yOUM&client=mv-google&gl=NG&guid=&hl=en
  13. Thanks for the advice, I will take them to heart. I need more advice from everybody, it will be highly appreciated. As regards my name, I have tried to change it but I can't find where to change it on my profile. Can Admin change it for me
  14. I really need help and advice from people who are elders in cinematography. I am a college student in my early 20s studying Microbiology. Cinematography has been my passion for long and I know microbiology is not really what I want to do, it shooting, I want to do, it is in me. My passion for it has kept me awake all night and day, searching for information here and there all over the internet reading any and all cinematography books that comes my way, training myself, learning about cameras and how they work, learning of all the basic rules of cinematography, watching videos on youtube. In total I have read more than a 1000pages of books on cinematography and I dnt seem to ever get tired. I just feel more hungry for cinematography knowledge. My main point of interest is I want to direct and shoot music videos but in the course of reading and research, I discovered cinematography was wider than I think. Please pardon me for the long story. I have read many books and they are so self explanatory that I feel they are as simple as they are written. I have short some short videos with basic consumer cameras howver, I got my first official video job not quite long and it was a commercial like a presentaion. I decided I wanted us to use whitescreen and we did. I was even lucky to be provided with a canon 7D free of charge but when it was time to practicalise everything I have learned over the months, everything changed. First it was whitebalance. I have read so much about white balance that I know that if you want to get the best white balance, u need to switch off the auto white balance and go manual. However was I settin the white balance, I seem to notice no difference(I don't know if its my eyes that is not sharp not to notice any diffrnce. Any valie I set the white balance to seem to looks fine and ok to me, which I know shouldn't be. I jst selected 3500 since I was using three red head light. Next, when it came to lightin as well, this wasted overe 3hours of my time as I kept adjusting the light. There was this shadow that kept drawing itself on the backgrounnd. When I adjsut the light and eliminate one shadow, another shadow comes up from the light I used to wipe off the first shadow. I have read so much about lighting that I felt I was a failure. I have watched instructional videos, I have reasearched am read more about photography than I have read my normal school books. But when it was time to practicalise, everything changed. The confidence I had in myself vanished instantly. I shot the video shabilly and after editing and everything, I watched the video and felt ashamed of my self. I used canon 7D and the result was almost like using a consumer camera to shoot. I really need your advice. My passion for cinematography grows everyday but when I shot the video, I Started doubting myself. Please advice me. Did this happen to you when you started as a cinematographer. What can I do. What will help. How long before I become a pro. Or is it that I have not studied enough. I feel disappointed in myself.
