  1. Hey Roy, I kept the 40mm SER 1, as all the offers I got for it were very low, and I figured, for some vintage look shots it's a nice medium focal length, and at that price, I'd rather keep it. :)

  3. I have a brand new Red Pro Zoom 18-85 in its original packaging for sale. This lens was brand new from RED, not a battle tested lens. It has been mounted to a camera twice, but has never been actually used. No marks of use anywhere, comes in the original box.   8. Last night a few things were stolen from one of our production cars. The car was located on the Hotel Parking lot of "Hotel Lindner Düsseldorf Airport". "Luckily" the security camera we parked our car below was a dummie, as all of theirs are... <_< We took most of the expensive gear with us over night, but among the few less important things they stole, they got a Fujinon HA18X7,6BERM-M58B B4 lens Serial # 426255. In case you ever come across it, it's stolen.
  9. Hi All, I have a set of 18-75 Cooke Speed Panchros in original ARRI Standard Mount for sale. Due to many reasonable offers coming in and apparently a bigger interest in single lenses, I already started splitting it up. The lenses have never been rented and have received our best owner/operator care. All the lenses have clean glass, absolutely no fungus or haze. Not too many noticeable dust particles either. The 18mm has a tiny nick on the front element, which is outside the imaging area, and absolutely no detriment to image quality. Since their last service is a few years back, I would recommend a service at duclos or whatever you prefer, just to be 100% sure they are all in their best shape. Of course they would be awesome for rehousing, but they are a pleasure to shoot with as they are. The 75mm has the typical golden touch, though I wouldn't say it has excessive "yellowing" - I have certainly seen stronger yellow casts on 75s.   13. While -in still photography terms- this one really is a quite solidly built pro lens, I'm aware of variation in all kinds of gear, pro or consumer, of course. That link is really interesting, wouldn't have thought product-to-product variation to be that evident on lenses! Still a comparison should be good to tell if a certain degree of this shift it's normal or if I have an issue with my copy. In the end however, this reminds me to be really careful about testing a stills lens before using it for video. While I'm not a fan of that practice at all, it sometimes does come in handy, especially on documentary-style shooting.
  14. Hi Dom, wow, thanks so much, I couldn't have hoped for a better answer! It is noticeable, but I wouldn't say excessive. And you're absolutely right, it's most noticeable when changing direction, but also when starting a focus pull. I was planning to compare my zoom to another sample, and now know that it's worth the effort. And another reminder for me to be extremely careful about testing all aspects of a stills lens before using it for video. Thanks!

Hi all, after a recent request for just the 3rd Axis that fell through last minute, I've reviewed our use of the weavers and decided to sell one of my Steadman Weaver Heads including the 3rd Axis. This is a great and very solid Mitchell-Mount Head that is incredibly flexible to setup, using different lengths of tubes.   16. Hi All, I think this is my first post here, usually I'm much more active over on the Steadicam forum. Recently, I have encountered a weird issue with my Nikon 24-120 f4 zoom, and am hoping someone can shed some light on this: pulling focus causes the image to shift left and right, up and down, abruptly and -I think- randomly. This is definitely not what would usually qualify as breathing. I have isolated all other causes like pushing the lens itself around a bit, it is definitely just due to turning the focus ring. The faster it's turned, the worse the shifting, but even on very slow pulls it shifts at some points. Usually I'm not a big Fan of stills lenses, but for a recent documentary shot, it seemed like this was a good allrounder on my BMCC, and it's a really nice and sharp lens overall. Now, of course I'm used to this kind of shift happening when changing focal length of a stills zoom, which is why it's totally unuseable in shot and I really use it as a "variable" prime, but while pulling focus? Has anyone ever encountered something similar, Is this possibly due to a loose element in the lens, i.e. might it need repair, or is that just the way it is with some stills lenses?
