  3. Hello everyone, I've been browsing this forum for a couple of days trying to get a handle on telecine and DI, but with no luck (the lingo is killing me!). So here's my question: Suppose I have about 50 minutes of 16mm footage that I would like to be able to edit on my home computer, and then burn to a DVD. To what format should I have the film transfered??? Thanks a bunch, A. p.s. Why are there so many different formats? Also, could you point me to a decent webpage or book that explains the telecine/DI process in newbie language?
  4. thanks to all for the replies
  5. Hey Everyone, I have a question: how do cinematographers get that really high-paced action look in pictures like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and a little in Gladiator. I can't exactly put my thumb on how it looks, so I'll hope you know what I'm talking about. Thanks and have a good one.

    newbie question

Hello All, I've been reading posts on here for a while and every now and then see you all talking about whether or not a particular camera has a registration pin and / or pressure plate. so my questions are 1) what exactly do they do?, and 2) does a good sound sync camera have to have these in order to work well?? thanks for your time, A.
