New to the forums, thought I'd lean on you guys for some advice. I'm trying to start out for the first time as a Camera PA/Trainee in the Toronto area. Unsurprisingly, I'm having difficulty finding any work. I'm avoiding volunteer/free work as I do have bills to pay, and unless I can quit my day job and do male stripping on the weekends I don't really see that being a reality for me. I know it's common advice - "volunteer! impress people! network!" - but I'm not 18 any more living in my Mom's house. I can bust my ass, ask questions, do the work, put in the time and deal with the drama but I need to get paid.
So with that said, looking for any advice on good ways to move forward.
