  1. I'm looking to sell my Canon Scoopic. I bought it several years ago and anticipated using it, but I never did, my K-3 always took precedence due to the ability to use different lenses. I'd like to send it to a good home where someone would like to use it for shooting. The Inside of the camera is clean, the lens and viewfinder are clean, but the exterior and leather grip have wear from lots of use. The previous owner must have loved this thing and taken it everywhere, the case has got a bunch of travel stickers on it and the metal is tarnished. The battery boxes are clean but will need to be re-celled. It's easy to re-cell yourself and you can get new cells from Du-All. Also Comes with: Lens Hood An extra takeup reel with metal can. The Canon Scoopic SF Tiffen High Trans #85 Filter Tiffen Professional SF #85 Filter Wratten N.D. Filter #96 "1.0" (Gelatin) The 13-76 Lens and Filters have good glass. I'm not going to charge a ridiculous price because I know there are better scoopic models out there, and I know that the camera mechanisms could use a good CLA. If you're interested please respond to this post, I can provide plenty of pictures and we can discuss a price.
  2. Yea it's got a c-mount. I think I will wait it out until I can find a 17-85 compact though. thanks for the info.
  3. If I've got one of these Pan Cinor 17-85 lenses with the mount for the dog leg viewfinder, do I need the dog leg to make use of the lens or can I use it on a reflex camera and see the image through the camera's viewfinder?
  4. Hey, thank you for all your replies and input. I live it NYC and I intend on trying to get a job working for Steve Gal of Du-All Camera. I have already talked to Steve in person, and while he seemed to appreciate my interest in film cameras he said I would need more experience before I could get a job working for him. As I have had a difficult time finding anywhere else on the east coast that specializes in film cameras, I am going to ask Steve if I could do an apprenticeship there, sweeping the floors, cleaning the shelves, etc for free and then trying to learn some things when I can. As many of you know, Du-All also rents out Alexas, Red Epics, Black Magics, etc., so in addition to learning about film cameras I'd also hope to expand my knowledge about pro digital cameras as well. The root of this quest is for my own love/interest in making professional quality movies with super 8, 8mm and 16mm medium. However, I realize that the more popular thing these days and the thing that may lead to more jobs is the ability to shoot with digital equipment. I intend to be proficient at both film and digital when I get out of school.
  5. Hello all, I really enjoy using old film cameras (super 8, 8mm and 16mm) to shoot movies, but I feel helpless whenever I have a camera issue that I know I could fix with the right tools and a little experience. I have started to open up my Bolex 8mm cameras and do some CLA and am currently working towards attaining enough knowledge and experience to become a camera technician. I'm looking for anyone who teaches a course in camera maintenance or runs a camera repair shop and wouldn't mind taking in a trainee. I am a student right now, and I would work for free so long as I could get some experience working on 8mm/super8 and 16mm cameras. This is something I really enjoy doing and while I have aspirations of becoming a filmmaker, camera repair seems like a good way to make a living.
  6. Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't really help me. I know I can make my own battery solution for much less money than Du-All charges. The fact that it's not as easy doesn't scare me away.
  7. Got this lovely little Beaulieu 2008s off of ebay. Trying to find batteries for the thing, and to my understanding it is an earlier "A" model because it has only 1 contact in the middle and one on the side for the light meter, instead of the "B" model which has the three pronged contact. It came with the 4 original 1.2v batteries, but no kind of battery container. From my understanding and the research I've done, the 2008 never came with a battery container, and all I need to do is find a set of batteries that fit inside the battery holder or hook up an external battery pack. If there's someone with the knowledge to tell me that I'm wrong or tell me how I'd hook up a battery pack for this I'd appreciate it, thanks.
  8. That makes sense. I thought it was just a ring as opposed to ring + lens element. Thanks for the response
  9. My mistake, thanks for the correction. I think what Mark is saying is accurate.
  10. Hi, I have shot with an 814 before. To be honest your results look fairly decent. You can look up videos on youtube of others who have shot with the same setup and what you have will compare nicely. HOWEVER: If you use an external light meter and set the exposure manually as opposed to automatic, you might get better results. The 814 was originally designed for the now out of print kodachrome stocks, the closest of which, to the Vision Three 50D, would be the Kodachrome 40. This discrepancy might be the reason for the "dullness" as the automatic exposure of the camera is probably under-exposing by 1/3 of a stop because it expects a slightly faster film.
  11. I've been looking for a C-Mount - M42 x 1.0 Lens Adapter so I can use a Pan-Cinor lens on my Krasnogorsk K-3. The only one I've found is at http://www.edmundoptics.comfor $50 + Shipping, which in the realm of lens adapters seems a little steep to me. Is there anyone who knows of a cheaper option to exist? Thanks.
