  1. It's funny, I flew between Los Angeles and London four times this year and had no idea that you need this thing. And nobody ever questioned me what I have in my Peli cases.
  2. What if there's no serial number? I understand camera and lenses, but some of the stuff I have has no serials. Yes it's old but still works.
  3. One more question. When you book a flight or check in luggage, will media/film badge from a company help with reducing the costs? I'm asking because once I was flying to Ukraine, and they said if you have a media badge on you that shows who you work for makes it easier in a way.
  4. Guys, but still it gets expensive if you fly a lot. Every time spending even $200 per trip is a lot. If I cary RED Scarlet body, and a lens, few batteries and small accessories that would fit in peli carry on case, would I have problems or they won't even care since it's carry on?
  5. Do you have to pay for that, and is it expensive?
  6. Wow that sounds serious. Last time I was with three black magic cinema cameras. And then two years prior to that I was traveling with red one.
  7. I leave and come back often. I never heard but carnet actually and I've been flying for the past two years. Do you really need one and if so how do you get one?
  8. Please note. I'm not talking one bag shoot here. I'm talking basic cinematography kits. Camera, lenses, base support, tripods, batteries, hard drives, lenses, lens support systems etc.
  9. Hello guys. I tend to travel a lot. Share here your travel and equipment safety transport tips, tricks, advice etc. Thanks.
  10. In fact I'm so happy that I actually got one more as a backup, a mattebox, and a follow focus. Follow focus needs special attention as it's dual follow focus and quality is great. I was told that UltraCam was created to compete with Panavision in the first place, I won't be surprised it that were to be true. Build quality is really great.
  11. By the way. I'm very happy with the baseplate I got. I'm using it with my Blackmagic and RED cameras and it's great. A little heavy when flying but that thing is built forever.
  12. Came across this camera today, it uses the same 12mm system I have. I'm surprised nobody knows about them. Here are few images.
  13. I don't know if I want to go to 15mm tho. Maybe besst bet would be to go to 19mm as they are in use more often. Correct me if I'm wrong, 19mm are 104mm apart, and 15mm studio are 100mm apart. Right?
  14. Thanks. I think I could do that myself. It's a shame they don't make any adapters tho. And to my surprise many people have no idea about 12mm rods at all, even those who work in the industry. Strange.
  15. Hello everyone. I'm getting ready for a shoot this coming winter and looking into backup power sources for my camera. For my main power souce I'm using three Switronix V mount batteries. I don't know yet if I will be shooting on BMCC (12v) or Red One camera (14.4v). The question is, what should I know about connecting my cameras to acid batteries? Will I be fine with just connecting the right battery (battery with correct voltage) straight to the camera without any converters? Also, how do those acid batteries perform in cold/sub zero temperatures? Would appreciate your help. Thank you.
  16. I just measured, it's 90mm center to center distance. Any thoughs?
  17. I just got base plate that has 12mm rods. I've cleaned it and it works great. Problem is my follow focus is in 15mm. Any ideas?
  18. Hi, how about those older 12mm rods? Are they not in use today at all?
  19. Hello fellas, I got myself a good deal on ebay by winning an old UltraCam baseplate and quick release. I really like it as it is solid and very sterdy. But it uses 12mm rods. My follow focus and mattebox is 15mm. Also sometimes I rent other gear in 15mm. The question is, is there any adapters from 12mm to 15mm out there? Thanks.
  20. Thank you for your comments. I appreciate it very much!
