  1. Thanks tom. Your reply is very helpful. Thats all the info I needed

Make it easy on yourself and just use stops. You need 100 footcandles at 100 asa to get a 2.8. So at 200 asa you only need 50 footcandles to get a 2.8. 100 to get a 4, 200 to get a 5.6, 400 to get an 8 and 800 to get an 11. So, I'm guessing its 5.6 and 1/3 at 550 with 200 asa. I think I did that right. Someone feel free to correct me if I/m wrong.

My calculation on an old Spectra Pro was more like f/8 1/3 --- I know this is an old post, but I was looking for some other stuff on FC and ISO and stumbled across this one!

  2. I'm unsure what tapestock is the best for the Varicam, anyone know? Also, what does the red top and the yellow top mean on certain tapes? Anyone have any extensive knowledge in this area? Thanks.

    Peter

I have found that using the tape stock that is manufactured by the same company that made the camera gives the best results. Ergo, Panasonic stock in the Varicam

  3. I know your not supposed to mix brands of tape due to different lube problems, but are there any opinions on which is the best brand of tape. Any to avoid. Any good deals?

I follow this guideline... MiniDV tapes: Pana tapes use dry lube whereas Sony tapes use a wet lube, they should not be interchanged within the camera. Ergo, I use the tape made by the camera manufacturer. I do the same with the SDX900

taperesources.com has great prices and good delivery.

  4. Any thoughts on frame rate for the final sequence in the Natural?

you can view it at www.stitch.net/natural

    thanks in advance... Gregory Andracke
