  1. Hey guys,

I am keeping my eye out for baseplates that would be compatible for my Arri SR1 super 16mm.

How necessary is it to have an original Arri SR baseplate as opposed to something more modern?

Are there alternate options to the originals?

What are the advantages to a baseplate for the Arri SR? weight distribution?

Thanks for any and all thoughts!

  2. Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Chrosziel CMB-ST mattebox that has a 142.5mm opening, and it came with a rubber bellows that covers to 110mm. As it turns out, I want to use Zeiss super 16 lenses that have an 80mm opening. I have looked around and the adapters are either costly or back ordered.

Does anyone have any cheaper solutions for covering the opening to prevent light leaks? Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mitch Lucas

  3. Hey Guys,

I've been trying to fill out my Arri SR1 Super 16 for my next shoot and I am unsure of what would be compatible with my system.

I'm looking for a baseplate, and I'm not sure if certain ones are incompatible with the SR since the screw is off-centered. It's a bit confusing to me, and I am interested in attaining something lighter than the original baseplates. I'm also not sure if those would have problems if it was converted to Super 16.

I also cannot find the original hand grip, and if you guys could recommend one that people have used with this system I'd really appreciate.

    Thanks for your input!

  4. Does anyone know of any super 8 meetups or groups in NYC?

Would love to meet some like minded filmmakers in the area.

  5. Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what mount this could possibly be. I purchased this Angenieux 9.5-57 thinking this was a PL mount, but it's far too small for the opening. Ultimately I would like to use it on my PL mount camera, but if it's not capable I would try to sell it, but knowing the mount type would go a long way for both plans.

    any help would be appreciated!

  6. I was really impressed with the quality of your image, great color pallettes. love the natural aesthetic that came out of super 8. You can do alot of experimentation in After effects to stabilize the movement, but I look at this as a great experiment in super 8 narrative filmmaking. congrats!

  7. Hi, thanks for your response!

The camera did not come with a lens, so I am starting cold. The ground glass is set for super 16mm, I like the idea of getting a standard 16mm zoom and just avoiding the wider end.

I'm assuming certain standard 16mm primes could work, but I have a Schneider 16mm Arri S that I hear would not fit.

  8. Hello all,

I recently purchased an Arri SR1 at auction. I was originally told it was standard 16, but to my surprise when I received it, it had a S16 conversion and a PL mount lens.

This changes my plans a bit as I was just looking for standard 16mm and lenses are harder to come by.

Can you guys give me some recommendations on lenses that cover this model for super 16mm? I am completely confused at coverage.

    Do Zeiss CP work?

Can I use a zoom with an Arri B mount and adaptor?

Upon speaking with DuAll camera, the only option they recommended was an Angenieux 15-150mm 2.8 PL mount which was outside my current price range.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
