  1. I don't know if I'm too late and you've shot already but I've done stateless doc sync sound stuff in a sort of funny way:

Recorder with a mic capturing the subject audio. At the same time I mount a lav mic onto the camera mag - since you're using a blimp/barney slip it in there. Let the recorder roll the entire duration of the shoot. The lav mounted on the mag will hear the purr of the camera rolling, meanwhile on a seperate track you have clean audio for the subject. Once you get the footage back it's easy to see on your two audio tracks when your camera was rolling. No need for a voice ID either - the bits of your recording that hear the camera purr will correspond exactly to the lengths of your shots, easy enough to organize.

  2. They took the cut 5/65 negative, blew it up to 15/65 which made an IP then they struck an IN and that's what they cut into the 15/65 negative. So the 5/65 stuff was 4th generation by the time it hit the screen, where the 15/65 stuff was 2nd generation because they struck all the prints off the camera negative.

It was a stupid decision to do this workflow and I hope they don't do it again.

If thats the result of the NEG>IP>IN>Print process for 5/70 35mm with the same process must look like sandpaper? I guess it doesn't go through a blow up...

  3. What do you guys think accounts for the look of the 5/70 footage? I thought it was really inconsistent, some exteriors looked really rough, but when the men were hiding out in the boat waiting for the tide to come in it looked crisp and clean. But surely they were on a faster stock inside?

I can't figure out why 5/70 would look like that. Were my expectations just too high for the format?

  4. I have an original Arnold and Richter video tap for an Arri 3 door. It's quite bulky. There is a male thread about 35 or 36mm at the 2/3" sensor. Canon 4 pin power connector and BNC signal out. I didn't check if it's working yet.

Would you be willing to sell it? B/W I assume?

  5. Hello,

I'm slightly confused about the door on my Arri 3. It has a spot for a video tap but I don't know what CCD cameras will fit it. It sort of looks like a bayonet style. I've found some online but I have no way of knowing if they'll mount. Anyone know where I could get one?
