Shot my first short film this last Summer. It took two and a half days and went really really well + the weather was excellent! Editing took a while as my experience is very limited, but learned a lot from it ?
Hope you all enjoy it!
(Shot with my Eclair ACL and on Eastman Kodak Double X 7222 film)

Just wanted to update this topic in case anyone went looking for information on this particular viewfinder:
After talking with the great Mr. O'Doherty it seems the Kinoptik "fully orientable" viewfinder does indeed exist and is, as it seems, the best viewfinder available for the ACL.
Turns out my viewfinder did exactly what i wished it could, as seen in the attached photos. (image is always upright/correct viewfinder can complete full 360 degree rotation)

Hi Nick,
I have the same viewfinder and I’m wondering how you got it turned to the position as shown in the second picture.
I have a shoot tomorrow, so I don’t want to mess too much with the finder without knowing how to do it.
(Anyone feel free to reply, as I would like to know this asap).
Thanks!

Okay, I’ll try that. Thanks!

I'am editing a short film that I shot this Summer, and I would like to change the aspect ratio. I'm working with iMovie as this is the only program I have to my availability right now. I hope anyone knows how to do this? I would like to change it to either 4:3 or 16:9.
I included a screenshot as I also would like to cut away the left and right side of the film a bit.

I actually still haven’t seen the movie. Was going to see it in 70mm, but then my girlfriend catched a cold and had to stay home and get her tested for Covid-19.... The test came out negative luckily.
Still bummed out, but gonna see it soon digitally.

I’m going to see a 70mm screening next Saturday in Amsterdam. Really looking forward to it, I love 70mm screenings!

Oh, bummer... and Les Bosher from the UK?

Bernie O’Doherty from Super16 helped me with the exact situation

I thought I'd post this for anyone who might be interested. They really go in depth about the whole process and about working with PTA.

Sorry, direction is clockwise when turning the adapter..
So turning the lens I would have to turn it anti clockwise?
-
Thanks Heikki, I’ll try it out and let you know

Please send some photos of the adapter. Also, is the adapter attached securely to the camera mount -- i.e., does the lens rotate within the adapter, or the adapter with the lens?
How do I post photos? ?
the adapter is attached securely with the little pin onto the camera mount.

I have a project coming up next weekend and would like to use my Angenieux 12-120. I attach the lens to my ACL with a Cameflex adapter. But I can't tighten the lens into the adapter. It was on its way to Bernie for him to check it out, but it got delivered back to me before it even left the country, due to a fault.
To cut a long story short: the lens seems to work as its supposed to. The aperture, zoom and focus work. But with a little too much force, the whole lens turns along.
I'm still really wondering if I can use the lens, though. As I said earlier, everything works great except for the tightening problem.
I have no time to do a film test or send the lens back before I start shooting. So if anyone can advice me, this would be much appreciated! Thanks!

It’s been officially delayed for two weeks. So July 31th is the new release date.

You should look into the cinematography of the lighthouse which was shot on Double X with a custom color filter.
Will do! Love the Lighthouse. Do you have any recommendations articles wise?
-
Is it also recommended to use colour filters while shooting Double X?

I have a Angenieux 12-120 with Cameflex mount that I attach to my ACL with a Cameflex mount adapter. At the end of a Eclair manual that I have, it says you should turn the lens clockwise into the adapter until it tightens. But in my case, I can keep turning it endlessly.
I'm I missing something? Does anyone know what could be the problem and/or how I can fix this?

New Trailer looks great!
I'll say this much, it ain't coming out anytime soon sadly.
Fotokem is shut down and they aren't re-opening, even for Nolan. So it'll be a long time until it's released. I bet the photochemical process along will take a month alone.Bummer... Over here, the movie theaters will open again soon (with a max 30 people limitation per screening). But I would’ve been able to see it...

It's set for July. But with the pandemic situation, nobody knows for sure.

Have you tried contacting Bernie from Super16Inc?
He attached the Kinoptik viewfinder onto my Eclair a while ago. I also didn't have the mount piece, but he did.

I don’t know as I have the crystal sync with all speeds. But maybe this is of any help:

Thanks! Is the HEC 12-120 much better in comparison with the earlier 12-120? I’ll keep the 9.5-57 in mind for sure.
Advice Needed For Changing Aspect Ratio
in Post Production
Posted
My apologies for not replying any sooner, but after spending some time to get to know DaVinci Resolve, I was able to get the ratio I wanted and give the film an overall "cleaner" look.
I've posted a topic in the "Please critique my work" section with a link to the film ?
Thanks for the advice!
