  1. Phil, thank you for posting. I was looking for more practical answer, if you say dozen please state which ones and the ones you used. If there is a problem with advertising in this site than feel free to mail me the answer. thanks
  2. Does anyone know a ballast one could use to power a single kino tube 4ft long. It would be used on film, so flicker free ability would be great.
  3. Hi, I'm searching for a video walkman Sony GVD900E (PAL). Contact me by mail : drupcic@gmail.com regards
  4. Thank you Matthew, and thanks Wendell for providing the info. I think that yearly updated dvd list that includes cinematographers featurette/commentary would be a interesting find in the forums Library. But does one know how to get that information on one place, searching through individual dvd's is not very productive way but is it the only way? Dinko Rupcic CROATIA, Zagreb
  5. I remember that this forum had a post with a list of dvd's that included a cinematography commentary or a cinematography feature included on disc. I might be wrong with the location, but it would be a great list to have. If anybody would be so kind to point me in the right direction, or to start the list. Thanks! Dinko Rupcic CROATIA, Zagreb
  6. LTR, no go. Try bolex instead, spring motor bolex not the el model, el has 170 shutter. Bolex has the shutter angle of 130. And I think you can close it a bit more, there is a 1/2 and 1 option on the camera. 1/2 closes it to 65, and 1 will close it to 32-35 depending on the model. Also I think bolex rex-1 will have starting shutter of 145 angle but that doesn't change things much. Also if you plan using the same lens on LTR and on bolex be sure to test the lens for back focus issues. Regarding polycontrast filters ranging from magenta to yellow-correct me if I am not right on that, they are made for polycontrast b/w papers. Polycontrast papers have multiple layers and you activate contrast layers by exposing the right one using the right color and thus they will give you the right contrast. So if you want to make magenta or yellow go a little bit whiter use them. hey, mail me instead and send me your instant messenger nick Let's continue this discussion (if you want to), in the section by where this topic belongs to. Best, keep warm Apu Take care!!
  7. So, can broke starving students come in Croatia and do a proper underwater shot? Just kidding! I am sure some of my colleagues here will respond regarding your request, since that they are a little bit closer to your location. Best of luck
  8. I hope this is not your first try to get some work, and I hope it's not your last. The key is to keep trying and if you don't know where to begin, commercials and music videos are always a good start. If you want to be someone's trainee especially to a dp, try (if they have an agent) contact their agent and inquire about possibile internship, volunteer work with the dp, just make a list of agents and dp's and start asap. If you want to be on productions and try to make some contacts, that is also not a bad idea but it's more time consuming,( that depends on your age and ambition ). If you think that your cv needs to be bigger try getting some numbers or e-mails of local agencies or production companies that do film, commercials or music videos and contact them if they need some production assistants or whatever they need just to get you on the track. Then socialize and make your contacts, eventually something will show up and then make your move. Just keep trying!
  9. If I remember correctly, the "Book Light" technique pioneered by Cronenweth works by bouncing light through a frame of diffusion (Griffolyn), and then through a frame of gridcloth. Bob, your booklight seems very interesting in comparison to this big contraption I used to hear about. Can you provide some pictures? Thanks
  10. Eggcrates really make the diffrence, or at least to me they did. Whenever I have my softlights little above the subject, they work wonderfull. It is the angle of the eggcrates that provides you with more or less control over the spill; ofcourse more control you have more light you will lose. For the kinoflo part, if you want to do it will cost you around $300 for all the parts and the ballast. Here is a link to one of the ballast I tested, that worked perfect: http://www.hellolights.com/3laaromo4lvb.html If you want my specs from testing the ballast I can post it or mail it to you.
  11. Have you ever tried using, or making some eggcrates?
  12. Thank you on the tip, I am in proces of testing the new stock. If you are interested I can scan the prints and post the results of all three neg's printed. Dinko
  13. HI, The next project I am doing demands 400 iso in certain situations, I would like to use HP5 for the project but still I dont know if the grain is going to be over the top for 16mm neg. I am also planning to test pushing double-x 200 one stop. Has anybody has experience with pushing double-x to 400 and also comparing it to HP5. Most of the film labs use only D-96 as their main developer for black and white and they all say that it is actually recommended to develop HP5 in D-96- (maybe some info on that??) Thanks Dinko
