I understand, a viewfinder is not necessarily a necessity i guess, ill just live without one for now

I’m planning on buying a sigma fp. I don’t know if this camera will allow you to hookup a monitor. If so, could you use one of these apps with a homage viewfinder attachment

I've been researching the small hd sidefinder. I love the design of how it's composed of a modular monitor one can use a flip screen. My only question is, why hasn't someone made a side finder for a phone. I-phone's can play 4k footage easily nowadays, and with most camera companies having their own proprietery apps to regulate camera settings externally, I don't see how this wouldn't be feasible. I was thinking if there was enough room, one could model and 3d print a casing for the I-phone so that it could fit inside a small HD viewfinder, or perhaps print a whole new setup entirely and use the scope from an old zacuto z finder. Just wondering if it's possible, good EVFs sure dont run cheap.

Thank you very much, that has given me alot to think about, I need to consider how important a viewfinder is to me

I've decide to buy a Sigma fp, I'm pretty much in love with the system. I feel like it's the "PC" like camera that RED promised us, the fact it a full frame 4k camera that has beatiful color and can record to hardrives is stunning. However, buying the camera will require one to build out a system for themself's in order to gain it's full benefits. I'm looking for an affordable electronic viewfinder that will be able to display luts similar to the Small HD monitor. keep in mind Im looking for something seperate to the camera, not one those viewfinder attachments that connect to the cameras own lcd screen. preferably under 100 dollars, 150 is the max that I'll spend

Skin tone rendition is a big deal to me. After cutting my teeth on my schools hvc camcorders I’ve grown quite tired of bending over backwards in the color grade just to make the skin tones pleasing

I've been contemplating getting a micro 4/3 camera as my first "cinema" camera for a while, suffice it say I narrowed it down to the gh5 and completely over looked the extremely cheaper GH4. I don't care if I have the latest and greatest film equipment out there, I just want something that will last me a while as I progress as a filmmaker and is capable of rendering profesional video. The maximum i"m willing to spend on my initial camera setup is 2000 dollars, The cheapest GH5 with an adaptor i can find is over 900 dollars, while GH4s have been selling on ebay for around 400. I'm wondering What are the main advantages of the GH5, and if it's really worth it.

This has giving me so much to think about, thank you very much. I think I’m more inclined now to use a micro 4/3ds camera. Btw, this video has stunning look. I prolly wouldn’t purchase the black magic 4K for the poor color science alone.

P.S. do u have footage of the black magic production 4K before grading just to get a feel for how off the colors are

I don’t really have an issue with micro 4/3 specifically, it’s more that the lenses I’m planning on buying come in a small set and the widest focal length 35mm. Thanks for all this, I didn’t know anything about the color rendition, I’m definitely gonna look into that

Hi guys, I’m a young filmmaker looking to buy a camer. I’ve already made some shorts using my iPhone and the camcorders at school(old cannon vixias) and I feel like I’m at a point to justify buying my own camera. Im able to purchase a production 4K rig for under 400$. The following items it includes are...
15mm rod baseplate with Arri rosettes
Dovetail plate
Top handle with cold shoe
I understand that this is an older model that black magic doesn’t support repairs to. My biggest issue is cost, I am willing to spend 2000$ on my initial setup and would like to use the extra money for lending. Most new cameras at this resolution I’ve found are micro 4 thirds sensor which I feel just won’t give me enough option for the types of shots I’m wanting to achieve. Is there anything I need to know about this camera and in your opinions is it a good idea to buy it. I feel like a super 35 sensor would give me the most flexibility in shot choice and style, but again I’m a beginner and don’t know as much as you proffesionals
What kind of anamorphic adapter will give a full frame “3:2” sensor a 2.35:1, 2.39:, or 2.40:1 aspect ratio

I’m planning on purchaseing a sigma fp. They have a full frame aspect ratio of 3;2. I’ve haven’t been able to find any suitable anamorphic support that will work on at least a 35mm lens. Is their an equation to calculate anamorphic squeeze in relation to initial aspect ratio that will give you the end result.
