  1. I have already contacted Swiss Effects and should be getting an answer soon. They are the BEST and I am friends with some top people there, but thanks anyway. I am just looking for a DP who has done Film-Outs with SDX before, ideally through SwissFX or DuArt
  2. We are shooting a short film on two SDX900s with DigiPrimes. The producers are hoping to be able to afford a Film-Out -- although at this point we are not 100% certain that will happen. Is there a setup that looks great both on a Film-Out as well as direct to DVD that is already on the CD-Rom? Most of the scenes are interiors, some daylite, some tungsten. If it has to be done manually: Which Gamma is best? Is FilmLike1 or FilmLike2 recommended? Where should Master Ped, Black Stretch Level, Kneepoint, Kneeslope etc. be? Where should the Horizontal DTL and Vertical DTL be? What other settings need to be tweaked? I assume the preferred Record Mode is 24PA ? Is that true even if we DONT go to film? Should I shoot at -3dB gain or is there no advantage over shooting at 0dB? What else do I need to look out for? Greatful for any insight from anybody who has experience with setting up the SDX for Film-Outs
  3. I would like to hear from DPs who have used Zeiss DigiPrimes or Fujinon HD Primes on their SDX900. Any experiences / recommendations? Also, is the SharpMax a must?
  4. Having seen nothing but DISAPPOINTING results with HDV cameras, I would definitely recommend for you to take a close look at the HVX200 when it comes out in Q4. This camera will not only shoot 720p but also 1080p and you can go to either P2 or Hard Drive*. The only other camera that is capable of capturing 1080p is the CineAlta. Moreover, this Panasonic camcorder will be recording a SERIOUS HD SIGNAL with great color space, the same as the VariCam, not some pro-sumer MPEG-2 signal with a 60:1 (!) compression to MiniDV. HDV must NOT be considered "High Def" as broadcasters including HDNet and Discovery HD will not accept anything shot on this inferior format. What's the point of interchangable lenses for a platform that was (initially) developed because Japanese consumers wanted to record their weddings in something HD-ish that would play back on their HD monitors? * 3rd party portable HardDrive solutions will be available
