  1. Hi everyone, I am due to be focus pulling on the Sony HDW-750P HD CAM with a Canon HJ21 lens. Does anyone know if the depth of field for this set up would correspond to that of Super 16 or 35mm ? Any help would be much appreciated..
  2. Can anyone tell me if there is any noticeable difference between filming at 24p compared to 25p when trying to achieve a 'filmic' look, or between 25p & 50i ? (I am shooting in PAL) Thanks to anyone who can help, and apologies for the mistake in my original posting.
  3. Hi David, yes, apologies for that, I did mean 24p or 25p, and also 25p v 50i. Thanks for your help
  4. Hi, I am due to be shooting a short film on a JVC GY-110 HD or similar, in order to get a 'filmic' look was wondering if there is any difference in shooting in 24i or 25i. (I am working in PAL) or if there are any other issues I need to take into account ? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help..
  5. Hi, a bit of a novice question this one, but I am considering using a black promist filter on a forthcoming shoot and not having used one before, was wondering if I should white balance the camera before or after applying it ? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
  6. Can anyone out there tell me how they achieved the distorted PoV camera effects in "The Diving Bell & the Butterfly', ie what filters if any were used and also how they got the vignetting effect on these shots ? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help
  7. Thanks to all that replied to my question regarding which camera to go for. I live in the UK and subscribe to a site called Shooting People where it seems that the larger majority of jobs at a certain level seem to be for the Sony Z1 hence my query.
  8. I'm thinking of investing in a good all round HD camcorder at the Prosumer level and was wondering if anyone can tell me why the larger majority of jobs advertised seem to want Sony Z1 owner operators rather than say, the Panasonic HVX-200 which I understand shoots real HD. I'd be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on which are the better cameras at this level.
  9. Hi Michael, Many thanks for your reply to my compositing question, but how do you window in to a smaller part of the screen without making everything look totally pixellated ? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question, but I'm a complete novice at this. Thanks, Tony Powell
  10. I recently shot a film on standard 16mm and which we later had telecined to a digital format for editing. Restrictions due to the complete lack of lighting kit and tripods meant that in one of our interior shots their is a glare from the key light on a wooden door, unfortunate, but there was nothing could be done about it at the time. I tried compositing this out using combustion, which seemed to have worked very well when played back on my monitor, or a TV, but when blown up and projected on a full size screen didn't look so good. My question is, how can anyone do things like this successfully unless they are able to constantly check their results by blowing up the frame to full projection size to see what it looks like ? Surely there must be some way of doing it. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated
  11. I have about £3k to spend and was wondering what other members opinions about the best HDV camera to buy are? as I've heard mixed reports about the Sony Z1
