  1. You know James, Im at that point where I dont know which way is up. Im in that hazy period of time where I have been researching the various products, highs and lows, lefts and rights, bonuses and downfalls.... all my brains am hurting. LOL 16x9 is not that big of a deal to me... its very cool.. but something that I will probable not utilize to its full potential within the next year or so. I dont think that I am set on old school, but I am comfortable with the DV experience and to be quite honest, the only medium with which i have really worked with (CSU Fullerton.... i finally finish my BA this month). I am really interested in the compact design with the added bonus of the mic. I have been trying to find a desent camera with an audio connection so that I could go get the beachtec module, but most manufacturers must know that I want this feature.. or the local Fry's sees me coming and they hide all of the cool models. oh ya... I really like the idea of being able to rack focus... and i 'think' this can be done with the PDX-10. Most of the fancy new models dont have this option and it kinda bums me out. So ya... any suggestions or guidance at this point would be amazingly extremely grateful!!!! another oh ya... CMOS scares the wookie out of me! LOL!!
  2. Hi everyone... to make a short story long, I saw a guy using the pdx-10 this past weekend and I fell in love with the small bady and standard shotgun mic. I did some searching around and it appears that the going rate for the whole package on ebay is around $1450. I have not been able to find any information on prior retail for this camera as it is apperantly not being made any more. Does anyone have a link they could share... or perhaps a really good idea what the retail price for this camera was before it went out of production?? Thanks!!!
  3. Thanks for the feedback guys!! The fact that the camera he uses is 3ccd is pretty cool! And yes.. it is very tiny, but substantial enough to mount a mini shotgun mic onto. The 3ccds explains how he gets broadcast quality shots out of it... which is something I was wondering about. Anyways... time to start diggin  *runs off to research camera*
  4. Does anyone have any idea what kind of camera Ty Paddington from Extreme Makover Home Edition uses for his handheld hijinnks??? Forgive me if this is in the wrong posting location... please move it if u need to Mods.
  5. Thanks Bryan!!!!! Knowing this information does change my plans though. I guess the panasonic is the way to go huh. Too bad as the GL-2 is about $1k less. Oh well, you get what you pay for right :D
  6. I am having a hard time finding information on whether or not the GL-2 has a 24fps mode. I guess im hoping that one guy out there who has one will see this and give me a quick yes or no answer.
  7. Hey thanks alot guys!! I really appreciate the info!!
  8. I just got done surfer the web, mostly e-bay, and I am at a loss as to which projector I should buy. I am looking for either a dual S8/8mm or just a straight up Super8 unit. My head is spinning from all of the options out there, so I guess im looking for helpful info such as reliability, projection quality, all-around good name and the like. im trying to keep it under $50 bucks and there are a lot of em out there for way under that..... but which one to settle down with??? Thanks in advance for any info and wisdom you might be able to pass on to a Noob trying to make his way through the vast world of 8mm.
  9. Hi Forum!!!! I have a delema maybe you guys can help me out with. My mother-in-law pulled a box full of old Super8 reels on it and I have been eyeballing some 8mm projectors on ebay. I was going to secure a bid on one when a thought accured to me..... can I play the Super8 film on a projector that does not specify a dual setting? So therein lyes my dilema  can i view (successfuly) the Super8 film on a vintage REVERE 8MM FILM PROJECTOR MODEL P-90??? Thanks for your input and Im glad Ive found this forum!! It will be fun getting to know all of you in the future! :D
