  1. That's great! Do you know what film he submitted? I'd like to check it out. Congrats! Thanks for the comments guys.
  2. Oh how I hate 4:3...I guess I messed up the dimensions when uploading to their site. Surprised you like it that way on a Photography forum. Any particular reason why?
  3. Yeah, the stuff he was saying while he was "preaching" was pretty raunchy, but we couldn't stop laughing. I think it added to it because we were shooting in front of a church and he was talking about ripping off people's heads and "Deflowering" them. I've been in Dallas the past week, but they finally blew the thing up huh? Good.
  4. Thanks for the comments guys. And Joseph, yeah I shot this in Austin (moved here about 2 years ago after graduating high school in Dallas). Which actor do you recognize? And the performance footage was shot in the never completed Intel building off 5th Street. Which was nice, because we were the last people to film there before they started to tear it down.
  5. Hey guys, So like most young filmmakers out there I submitted whatever my last project was and was hoping to see if there are any other filmmakers who submitted their stuff as well. I'd love your thoughts and opinions, and I'm looking for to get reviews on the site as well. The aspect ratio got messed up, so if you want to watch and rate it on the site but want to see a proper quicktime version, I'll post one below as well. Shot on stock HVX. 6. Hey guys, This is the first music video I've done with the HVX and I have to say it was a pleasant experience. I had never touched the camera until the day before the shoot, so I'm still learning how to control the beast of a machine, but all in all I think the video turned out pretty good. Shot over the course of two (very long) days. We used a total of 24 actors (some of which didn't make the final cut due to time restrictions in the song) and the crew consisted of myself and my brother (who is also my producer). I'm also still learning how to export HD footage to the net and retain it's quality, so right now the link to the video is a hefty download (110mb), so proceed with caution! The link: Truth for Leo - Way Back Down Any feedback would be great! Thanks again.
  7. Aside from about 10 industrial fluorescent lights, one Lowell 3-piece light kit, and a couple DJ lights, that was about it. We rented a fischer 11 dolly which was like a gift from god. It was the hydraulic arm that really impressed me and I tried to use it as much as possible without overkill. But that was about it. I cut it together in Final Cut Pro HD and used a deck to import the footage, but no color correction was done whatesoever....which was definitely a first for me. I just didn't think it needed it...another first for me. Usually it's the mindset of "ok, that looks about as good as we're going to make it it look on-set, we'll fix the rest in post", which I know is horrible, but when attempting to achieve that "film-look" it kinda becomes necessary to think like that when shooting with a XL2 or a 100a/b. Having said that, the SDX/Pro35 combo looked unreal while we were filming and watching the playback on the monitor. I'm still working on compressing it for the web in multiple formats...which I suck at and think it to be a whole artform unto itself. Anyway, thanks for the feedback Charles. Glad you liked it.
  8. What will eventually be part of an entire DVD for the band, including this video along with two other videos for portions of two other songs that will be on their upcoming album, interviews, live shows, behind-the-scenes, etc. Filmed last Sunday at Austin Studios with a Panasonic SDX900 w/Pro35 Adapter and Superspeed Zeiss lenses. The band is named Dremnt the End ( www.myspace.com/dremnttheend ) Link to the video: Stuck in the Love
  9. Hey thanks David, that footage looks as good as I was hoping, so thanks for putting my mind at ease! Once I'm done with the video, I'll be sure to post a link in the forums.
  10. I'm shooting a music video later this month with this configuration and I thought I'd see if there was any sample footage I could view. Thanks.
  11. Hey guys, Posted a previous music video I did a while back, and now I'm here with a my second one! Shot on a soundstage at Austin Studios, this is my last music video to be shot on a stock XL2. I've got a new music video I'm shooting at the end of December with a proper budget, so I'll be switching to the Panasonic SDX900 w/Pro35 adapter, which will be nice. Anyway, this was a gruesome three day shoot. My brother and I built all the sets ourselves from scratch (walls, props, set dressings, you name it, we did it), and that took us 48 hours straight without sleep. After finishing the sets, we went right into shooting for 15 hours, so basically we began filming extremely tired and I DO believe it affected the overall product (some of the dolly shots look downright horrid to me), but we had no choice as our studio time was restricted to 3 days, and 3 days only (the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was set to move in the day after)....so all in all, no sleep for three days. But I digress, this music video was edited in Final Cut Pro 5 with heavy effects placed on the entire video (which caused considerable lag in my harddrive, but it was necessary). So here's the link to the video, the band is called J. Price Band. You can also go to our main webpage at www.suitedproductions.com to check out some of the other stuff I've done. Enjoy!
  12. Hey Guys, Thanks for the positive feedback. The music video was shot with a standard Canon XL2, while the creative reel has a variety of shots filmed on several different cameras: a Sony TVR50, the Panasonic AG-DVC80, as well as the aforementioned Canon XL2. Never have had the chance to try film out, but would love to use it at some point. Anyway, thanks for the responses.
  13. Hey Guys, Just found this site today and thought I'd sign up and get involved with the discussions on this forum. I'm 19 and live in Austin, TX. My brother and I have started a small production company to pay the bills and build up our portfolio. We're still in our infancy, but our work schedule is looking better and better each day. To view a creative reel of some of the short films I've done, as well as a music video and some other projects, head over to www.suitedproductions.com and check us out. My brother serves as my producer while I handle the Director/Cinematographer aspect. Anyway, great to be apart fo the site!
