  1. I think the best thing you can do is to #1 put it in an environment that's very dry --~50% or less relative humidity should be good. Also keep it in a temperature 70 or below. If the fungus ins't too bad then you can probably live with it I heard it's also good to put a lens in direct sunlight for a good 15 minutes per side with the apeture wide open. That should keep the fungus from spreading any more..
  2. it's worth a look to see how the film stock he used performs.. he shot it all in available light
  3. hello! I need a 107mm filter that is threaded. Not looking to spend too much, just want something to protect a lens while I'm handling it. Thanks a lot

    Krasnogorsk 3

Does the film rest flat on the film guide?
  5. It's not too bad.. but when I shine a flashlight at a particular angle I can definitely see it. The lens has some huge lens elements, so it should have negligible effect on the exposure, but some dust has gotten up in there.
  6. I noticed that there's a little dust on some of the interior elements in my camera lens. Should I worry? I know that there's a risk of fungus but I keep the lens in a moisture controlled environment..
  7. 1800 seems to be the average for regular 16mm on ebay.... might want to hold out for something less though.. might get it for under 1000 if you keep a look out.. you can spend the difference getting it serviced
  8. Eclairs are solid cameras..... like he said though the older angenieux lenses can look pretty crappy, but then again a modern super16mm zoom lens will cost a good $200/day to rent, and over 5000 used to start!
  9. do you have a link to it? price?
  10. somewhere sold an s16 projector for 200 dollars. FOrgot where it was though
  11. ha ha I think we'll endup using the ambient light.. it doesn't have to look spectacular really, but thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably suggest the digital8 camera since it's really cheap.. but maybe they'll want something else, but will probably settle for a wal mart camera :P
  12. When did this forum become a pros-only forum? I'm just asking in a video forum about a decent consumer video camera, since I do have an account here. If everybody in 'video' owns professional equipment only, then they don't have to reply back, the thread will drop out of site, and I will have found something in the meantime. Thanks for the advice (not)
  13. I need to buy a camera ASAP for an important church function. I can spend 500 dollars max, just to let you know. Any recommendations would be apreciated! Robert
  14. I know that 85b knocks daylight down to 3200, but 85 is generally listed as the filter to use.. How much difference is there between the 2 based on experiences? Also from a google search, I got the impression that an 85b has a UV protection element to it.. any confirmation of that?
  15. Thanks andy, I guess i'll get ROR maybe for my filters and use pancro for my lenses
  16. Vera Drake was shot on 7218 and processed through digital intermediate, then expanded to 35mm. Might not be the best way to judge a photochemical blow up but it looks immaculate
  17. How about ROR Residual Oil Remover? I've read someo good things about it.. Pancho must be good for the 15 dollars that it costs at cinema supplies
  18. Thanks for the replies all. Has anybody used the zeiss pre moistened lens clothes? Here is an ebay listing of them http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7564336239 They might be paper though
  19. Mitch I got it in an email from an expert bolex user whom I'd rather not name for their sake! Anyhow one of the cameramen for die another day used 2 EBMs and shot some segments with them, presumably for b footage. Not sure of what all segments they used it for, but the Opening where brosnand's on the beach had some footage shot on the bolex which was DI'd, then blown up to 35mm. That's all the technical info that was in the email. Could be bogus but I trust what the person says, so I'll stick with it. By the way Drew do you have any other pics of your rod support setup on your NPR? Looks awesome
  20. An EBM was used to shoot some scenes in one of the recent bond movies
  21. This is going to sound bad of me, but which should you meter using: t stops or f-stops? Are they scaled the same?
  22. So regarding diopters.. How detrimental to the image quality are they? From browsing photo.net's forum, it sounds like they are not bad as long as the lens that I use is high quality.
  23. Yeah I guess LCD will be the way to go. It just sortof doesn't feel like it fits in the context of my story, but I guess I can try gutting an old TV out to lend to the effect that I want if I'm bothered enough. Does the LCD have any lighting/exposure issues worth mentioning?
  24. David many thanks (again)! I'm stuck with a crystal 24 since my old beala motor's governed for a 60hz pulse. So you said a 23.976 monitor.. Are there not TVs or a tv system that can make a tv run at exactly 24 frames/48 fields per second for 24 frame camera shooting instead of 29.976/23.976? I think i'll have to live with a roll bar
  25. How does 180deg shutter angle look when shooting NTSC at 24fps crystal?
