  1. Ok buds, I just finished writing a screenplay that a friend and I are planning to put into production. I wrote it, and then I sent it to my friend, who looked it over and changed a few lines and fixed my grammar and such. Is this man now my co-writer? Or maybe one of the not-necessarily-existant titles I posted as the topic of this message? What do I credit him as? Please help.
  2. Exactly, so . . . I can generally use pop culture references . . . I think . . . even specific movies . . . I think. I'll probably add "something" to my screenplay. I won't tell you what, 'cause it's going to be awesome and blow your mind! yeah. More help if you've got it.
  3. Do I need to buy the rights for something if I am only planning on talking about it in my movie? For instance, in, "Clerks.," Dante and Randal have a conversation about, "Return of the Jedi." Do you suppose that they had to pay in order to use the name and plot points of that movie? Does this question make any sense? hmmm. Please help if you know what I'm saying.
  4. I just bought two audio technica shotgun mics, but one of them is broken (doesn't work at all). The question is, do I exchange the broken one for a new one, or . . . could I possibly just stick with the one mic and get my money back? The one mic works great, and we are really only going to use it for "sit down conversation" situation-sorta-thingers. I dunno, should I just get the other one? eh? Please help.
  5. Is it absolutely ridiculous to attempt to make an entire indenpendent film with a consumer digital comcorder? If I were to blow it up to the big screen (festival size) would the 680k pixels be enough, or do I need to seriously upgrade? Please help me; I really don't have any money, just a good script and some "actor" friends.
  6. What do all of you think about using, say, an 8-track digital recorder that is supposed to be for musicians, as a way to record dialogue? Couldn't I just plug in the mics and then upload it onto my computer? Or are there more difficult problems that I'm not thinking about? Also, what is the best, cheap sound editing program (software)? Any help is . . . helpful. thanks.
  7. Anybody have any tips on how one would go about simulating the look of television lighting? Just lights all abound? Lots of diffused front lighting? Help me please.
  8. It's a fairly tight budget. I'll need night and day scenes, not super-sunny days, just daytime days (overcast maybe). Generally, I'm just looking for set-ups and techniques for keeping the scene and the actors lit.
  9. Hey there! I was just wondering if anybody had any particular tricks for lighting in the woods: simulating the sun, keeping shadows away, keeping faces well-lit. How many lights am I going to need. Any help would, consequently, help. Thanks a lot.

    LENS ADAPTER?

I've got a little JVC camcorder and am looking for lens adapters or rings that would fit its 48.4mm lens and connect to wide-angle and telephoto lenses, but I cannot seem to find any. Any and all help would, consequently, help. Thanks a lot.
  11. Hey, a buddy and I are working on a film and have decided that I am to do the lighting. The film will be shot on miniDV, and I am not sure how powerful of lighting I will need to use. I am used to film, and it seems like digital would use less lighting. I have a 500 watt halogen and a 650 quartz-sort-of-a-thing. Please give me some tips on what lights I should use, and/or how I would use them for effective digital lighting.
  12. I'm having some trouble figuring out how to correctly spool the film onto the projector so that it runs correctly. Please try to help me.
  13. I have got a few questions. First, if I have a 50ft magazine, and I want to load the film on my own, is it possible to buy 100ft rolls and cut them in half? Would this ruin the film? Also, could somebody please help me to try and understand what the f/ ring does, and how I should set it under what circumstances.
  14. Is there such a thing as a black and white negative stock for super 8? I can only find B&W in reversal.
