  1. Yesterday while firing up an Arrimax I felt like I was on top of a mountain, the air surrounding the fixture was so pure. Just curious as to the scientific explanation for this? I hear its fairly common with the big guys. Thanks.
  2. Yeah, toys toys toys. He is actually a very experienced Steadicam operator which is why I didn't see any harm in it. But I agree, its a very specialized skill and they probably shouldn't be renting them out without an operator.
  3. So I have my first shoot with the Red this weekend, we prepped the camera over at Indie Rentals in Hollywood yesterday afternoon. My director wanted to fly the camera off of the Segway/Steadicam combo which in my opinion doesn't seem like it should even work, but somehow it does. Anyway my director jumped on the contraption and headed outside into the over-full parking lot. As he tried to squeeze his way through 2 cars the wheel on the Segway caught on a tire which threw him and the camera to the pavement. He and the camera took a pretty hard hit but somehow not a single thing got damaged, luckily the ultra prime didn't brace the fall. Just wanted to let everyone know if they feel like dropping their cameras from 5ft onto concrete to go for it, actually don't do that, but the camera can take a beating.
  4. I'm not too sure thats a good idea either. Especially considering you're using the Brevis, that thing soaks up light. Lots of money..
  5. I've heard P+S Technik is coming out with the adapter for the EX1 near the end of this month. By far my favorite out of all of the 35mm adapters I've used.
  6. Hey Michael, I'm fairly new to this too and I recently dealt with this problem for my first time as well, sort of, I had 2 windows. What type of light are you looking for? What time of day? In the case you're looking for very directional morning light (in my case, I was) I may be able to help you. We had a very limited budget and could only afford 2k fresnels, so I opened the barn doors all the way up, set it to full flood and placed it outside about 5ft from the window. We were shooting digital and I was able to get a fairly decent exposure, depending on the stock and how fast your lens is it may work for you too. I too thought it wouldnt work but it actually did and gave us some pretty believable sunlight. Here is what I got: www.mikeberlucchi.com/eodownloads Hope this helps!
  7. Thanks guys Im glad I finally got some negative feedback. Im actually reading the 5 C's right now and its been pretty helpful. As for Pesadilla I have been contemplating whether to take that one down for a while now, I decided I should since it was the first narrative film I had tried to shoot and I had no clue where to put the camera half the time. It really doesnt show my ability as a DP at all, it was more for my friends but videos for my friends arent gonna get me a job! Thanks again guys this is helping me out alot.
  8. Thanks alot guys, I just updated my reel taking the suggestions youve given me and added a few clips. Heres the link again www.mikeberlucchi.com. Thanks again guys and let me know what you think of this new version.
  9. Hey guys, Thanks alot for the feedback, its greatly appreciated. You have made some very valid points and I think I will rework through the reel. After all it was the first cut so Im really glad you both have responded. Also the effects were done in post by Scott Lynch, he does great work; I wish I could have done that in-camera. Once again thanks guys. Mike
