  1. Hi guys, Trying to find what works best - to dial the colour temp manually on camera or use a grey card for each lighting condition (custome balance)? I have used both approaches before, my concern is that sometimes the lighting conditions are more complex, like when using combination of tungsten and kino flos, then what temperature do you need to dial? Is it better to balance it on the grey card at the spot where you'll be shooting? Thanks for your help!
  2. Hi, I'm a film student based in London. As part of a project, we've been asked to shoot a 5 minute movie using traditional methods (i.e. film - no digital). I've never shot anything using film before so this should be quite an experience; if not a little daunting. I'd like to try to emulate the style and quality of films from the 1960s. This is what I have in mind: Does anyone know which cameras and stock were likely used in this filming? I'm sure finding a camera from that era shouldn't be too difficult, but I have no idea where to find the stock. Are there sellers of old Kodachrome stock? Many Thanks, Ed
  3. I just recently purchased a Sekonic C-500 color meter in order to know how much CTO, CTB or +/- Green to add to lights to match different environments. I'm wondering how to directly interpret the readings of the meter into the most common denotation of gel strengths - i.e. 1/8,1/4, 1/2 and Full (Color). I can figure out Kelvin with some quick math but where do you find what strength of +/- green to use? The meter reads 0-50 Magenta and 0-50 Green. Also the readings in digital mode are very different than in film mode. For example a reading in digital mode of CC filter 5M will be CC filter 25M in film mode. Anyone using this meter that could lend me some incite?
