  1. FOR SALE: Bausch and Lomb Super Baltar cine lens set 20mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75mm TLS Serviced Arri PL A set of 4 focal lengths from the famous Super Baltar lens range, used to shoot the Godfather, Star Trek TOS, special effects for Gerry Anderson’s Thunderbirds and numerous other classic films. Much rarer than Cooke Speed Panchros, their major rival at the time, the Super Baltars were made in far smaller numbers and their unique rendering and cobalt blue flares give them a iconic look few other vintage cinema lenses can match. The 20mm and 35mm focal lengths in this set came from Europe, while the 50mm and 75mm from the US (I believe from Warner Brothers). The telephotos render images that are a little cooler, but this is easily corrected for in the grade. All focal lengths are sharp and well collimated - in pretty incredible condition for their age. The 50mm and 75mm easily cover a FF/135 frame and the 35mm also covers surprisingly well with only very minor fall off towards the edges. The glass in the 20mm and 35mm were super clean and without scratches when I bought them. The telephotos needed a deeper service but are now clean and bright. No separation across the set, no heavy damage to the optics. All lenses have been serviced by TLS in the UK, fitted with solid Arri PL mounts, frontages and lens caps. 6mm follow focus gears and 5mm aperture gears have been added to all lenses. I have service reports from TLS, detailing the work done on each the lens, which can be provided to any potential buyer. All the original Bausch and Lomb lens caps that came with the lenses will also be sent to the buyer, in case they are of any use or interest. This is an excellent set of lenses, one which has been my pride and joy during the time I’ve owned them. Only being sold now as I need the funds for “real life” expenses away from the film industry. Selling is a painful decision as Super Baltars were always my dream vintage lens set. Additional photographs can be downloaded from this link: High Res Photos A Skype / Teams call is possible to view the lenses and answer any questions a potential buyer may have. The lenses ship in a standard black 1450 Peli case from the UK at cost (buyer pays all shipping and necessary insurance). Price: £28,000 ono Payment by BASC transfer only. An invoice will be provided with the sale. No VAT on a UK sale as these lenses are personally owned.
  2. Hello, I'm interested if anyone has the original bausch and Lomb cinemascope anamorphics for 35mm film which were arguably the very first complete set of anamorphics for film and used the original baltars as taking lenses (I know there's a set on fjs, I'm just not interested in paying what they're offering it for) or the super cinemascope lenses for cinemascope 55 that can cover full frame and is the first lenses mentioned on Arris white paper about using the Alexa LF and anamorphic lenses. If you have either of these lenses and are interested to sell them, contact me.
