Hello, my name is Oliver Aly. I’ve gotten so much help over the years from this forum without posting but now I’ve encountered a problem which I haven’t seen on here yet which I hope can be solved and maybe help someone in the future aswell! I recently purchased an ACL 1.5, already converted to S16 with a PL mount - which doesn’t seem to be working. However I’ve seen videos of it, supplied by the seller, of it working. It has a 12V battery connected to it and a volt meter showing that it’s receiving the voltage but the motor is not running - until the very end when I switch it off something seems to happen. Would love to hear your feedback on what could be causing it and any recommendations on how to fix it! Recommendations on skilled technicians out there who would be up for it is also welcome. Preferably in Europe! Kind regards, Oliver Aly https://vimeo.com/1072515963/00c0a98f47?share=copy

Hi everyone, I’m currently near the end of an arduous Arri BL3 repair. I found and installed replacement belts—finally—only to discover that the camera has an electrical gremlin. The camera ticks over for about one frame before winding down and stopping. The camera is running off of a wall powered, 12V 10A power supply, so it’s got plenty of juice. From what I understand, most DC motors function off of a “start” and “run” capacitor. This would lead me to believe that the camera is in need of a “run” capacitor to take it beyond an initial jolt of movement. Is this a misdiagnosis? Or if I’m correct has anyone dealt with this problem before and can point to the location of the electrical component in need of replacement? Thanks so much, I’ll follow up with a short clip of the issue.
