  1. OK I'm back with another "how did they do this" question. I'm looking at the quick & bright light flash effects you can see at 00:10 and 00:16. Most of the time when I try to do a flash effect with something like a strobe light, you get that "half the screen lit" effect because of the rolling shutter in the camera. Global shutter cameras I assume don't have this issue, but I only have access to rolling shutter cameras like the RED. So when using a RED, how can I mimic this strobe/flash where the entire scene is lit during the flash and not getting that rolling shutter problem? Previously I had tested with some cheap strobe lights and assume the light flash was just too quick for the shutter to grasp. But what if I used photography strobes? Something like the Alien Bee 800s for video? Would I still get the same problem? Maybe there's a more expensive strobe that allows you to change the duration of the flash for the camera to pick it up corectlly? Any model suggestions? How did they do this?
  2. Hi, i'm in the market for some new memory cards for my Canon C100, I'm looking at the San Disk Extreme pro 32gb @ 95mb/s and the San Disk extreme 32gb @ 45mb/s. does anyone have any advice on these two products, plus maybe some advice on storage size? Cheers Gabe
  3. Hi Folks, I would like some advice on what strobe/flash fixtures I could use to replicate lightning and what would be the best way to power this when shooting externally. Also has anyone found issues whilst shooting on Alexa with strobe lighting i.e lack of global shutter and what other approaches you could take to this problem. Thanks in advance
  4. I'll be using a strobe (flash) on an HD shoot. I've seen this in the past but it never seems to work well (strobe duration and shutter angle/shutter speed issues). Any ideas, tips or thoughts you can share with me?

  7. I was given an old Minolta Flash Meter III. It is without batteries and after researching, I have found that I am beyond confused. Every search I do gives me contradictory information. Could someone familiar with this light meter point me to exactly what I need to power this thing? So far I read that this works... http://www.jr.com/energizer/pe/ENR_A544BP/ But that this works... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Minolta-Flash-Meter-III-Silver-Oxide-Batteries-x6-/180692143409?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D4825571714958730983%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D121002435600%26 Which doesn't help me bcause it's overseas so I'd need to find the same here. Some say lithium is ok. Some say no way, it'll ruin the meter, stick with silver. I'm pulling my hair out. Sorry if I seem confused. I would love to go down to the nearest drug store or Wal-Mart or supermarket and just buy the battery I need.
