Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted July 25, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2006 Hey, is a panaflex GII too heavy for stedicam use? anyone have any experience with this? SCW I've done it in the past with the Steadicam conversion kit. It's a pain-in-the-a--, which is why I'd rather rent a Millenium or XL2, which converts very quickly to Steadicam mode. There's one Steadicam shot on a GII in "Twin Falls Idaho." It's just like flying a Steadicam with a VistaVision camera or big anamorphic lenses, etc. -- some operators will complain more loudly than others. You just have to be aware that the heavier the rig gets, the more inertia it will create, so quick turns or stops get harder, and it's harder to do longer takes or many takes before fatique sets in. David Allen Grove
I agree with Mr. Mullen. I've done it twice in 11 years and it just isn't any fun.. plus it's too much wear and tear on the gear as well as your body. Here are a couple of links from the steadicam forum that talk about mixing GII's and Steadicam that you may find useful. http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...=262&hl=gii http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...st=0#entry10424 Hope this helps.
