Chris Pritzlaff
What is the safe range of tilt for a 2K open faced fixture such as a Mighty Mole? I don't think there is an issue with tilt on a 2k tungsten light. I know that I have had them pointed straight down before without a problem. Anyone else? Cody Jacobs
Thanks for the response...I had had some heat issues with 8'' Jr's before, then again they could have just been extremely shoddy.
Premium Member Luke Prendergast Posted September 27, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted September 27, 2006 If it's a double-ended linear tube in there, or an axial-mounted single-ended bulb, then tilt won't effect the life and safety of the globe itself, but heat concentration and dissipation through the housing can be an issue. Hanging a (filament) lamp sideways is never a good idea though - drooping hot wire stressed outside its design will blow bubbles real fast. Manufacturers' spec sheets will give safe operating angles. There's usually a sticker on the yoke as well.
Mario C. Jackson
From my experience you can tilt them as much as you like. I have never had a problem with them. Hope this helps Mario C. Jackson
