Samuel Smith
I am doing a music video that requires something close to the "liquid looking" section of the space and time sequence on 2001. Does anyone know how they got that? I am not interested in the first part of the sequence with the lights flying by, but the second part where it looks like colored liquid dissolving and transforming. Guest Sean McVeigh
not that this is how he did it, but have you ever pointed your video camera at your monitor and played around with the zoom, etc? you can get some similar "to-infinity-and-beyond" type effects doing this. -Sean
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted February 22, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted February 22, 2005 the second part where it looks like colored liquid dissolving and transforming. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's not far from how they did it. They were pouring drops of different chemicals into a liquid-filled backlit milkglass or white plexi tray (probably, I doubt it was top-lit) not much bigger than the size of a book, with a macro lens on the camera. Lots of footage was shot...
