NIKON D-SLR LENS

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

I wonder what would be a nice/affordable set of Nikon Lens to start shooting with a Nikon D7000?

Was looking to buy some lens, maybe choose already a set the would be nice to have, and buy some now, some later.

I saw some on a website here, and some really affordable Nikon Lens, and wonder if they're worth the investment?

SOme variants of lenses, but I wonder if they're worth to buy if you are looking for the more cinematic look? (apart from the T2, can't afford).

Thanks,

Flavio

Hi there,

I hope not too late, I come here to share some thoughts on your choice of lenses.

You get your cinematic look from the aperture on the lens and any 5.6 is not going to add much to your set.

Also zoom lenses are not very usable during video recording on slr... I would bet on a couple of good lenses.

Even if not nikon... In the lower price tags you find nikon mount lenses from other brands that are better then nikon's

One wide and one for portraits. You shoot a couple of weddings and you get money for better stuff.

But that is just me...

Cheers,

Rodrigo

Hi Rodrigo.

Thanks.

Not late, thanks, but I have read more and about the Zeiss primes.

I actually made a heavy investment and got a Carl Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Planar T* 1.4/85. Awesome lens. It will be used for both Portrait Photography (my wife's jewelry) and Documentary Digital Filmmaking (maybe with a cine adapter).

My thought is to get next month the Carl Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon T* 1.4/35, then I'd be covered for a while and in producing lovely images for documentary filmmaking.

What are your thoughts about this idea? And would you choose another lens/brand (apart from the pro CP2) to be covered in DSLR filmmaking with a CINEMATIC look? What lens?

I stil can return my Zeiss 85mm as I have time, I just got it. Then buy cheaper Nikon Primes and invest in a Zoom Lens that would give a cine look.

Anyway, this is my drama now.

I already have some 16mm film cameras and lenses that I'd use for my short narrative. But when doing documentaries, I'd use the DSLR, that's the idea.

Only trying to get the best of it.

Let me know your thoughts

Flavio
