Guest mdcox
 What do you think I can get an XL1S at a great price from a buddy for around $1700 or should I get the DVX100A which I'll have to spend double that I have been looking at the DVX100A pretty hard. What do you think? For this exercise forget about any extras or what nots and just focus on the cameras themselves. :o
Premium Member drew_town Posted May 31, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted May 31, 2005 $1700 for an XL1s is a pretty good price. I like the XL1s better than the DVX100A, but I think you will find that most others will prefer the Panasonic to the Canon mainly because of its ability to shoot 24P. I just prefer the look of Canon's footage to that of Panasonic's.
Jay Gladwell
I agree with Drew. You could use your NLE to covert the XL1s footage to 24p. Jay
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted June 1, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted June 1, 2005 I prefer the look of the DVX100A and true progressive-scan capture, plus gamma controls, but if you can't afford it, then go with the XL1 if it's that cheap. Guest will
in my experience the xl1s is no where near as sharp as the dvx. I would catagorize the image as soft and mushy. the xl2 on the other hand...

The standard 16x lens- yes. The manual 14x and 16x are much sharper.
