Moon McCartney Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) Hi all, I am wondering if these Zeiss cleaning wipes (photo here/link to product here) can be used to safely clean the front and rear elements of vintage lenses? I'm concerned about the vintage lens coatings, I know those are partially why some of these vintage lenses are sought after. Mainly asking for the following vintage lenses: Switar H16 RX 10mm, 16mm, and 25mm (assuming dated 50s-70s) Zeiss Vario Sonnar 10-100mm t2 (70s-80s) Zeiss Distagon 8mm t2.1 (70s-80s) I would follow the circular motion and use a rocket blower before and after. My H16RX 10mm already has cleaning marks, but they don't affect the image. Thank you all! 🙂 Edited March 7 by Moon McCartney adding context

I tend to fold wipes/tissue into a wedge shape and use the tip to clean, rather than pressing the wipe with a finger directly onto the glass. It means you don't press too hard. Ideally work in a spiral from centre to the edge, after blowing off any debris, as you describe.
