Will a PAL Sony FX1 play back NTSC HDV footage?

Can anyone tell me if the two versions of the Sony HDR-FX1 (PAL and NTSC) can play back each others' HDV footage? Is seems as though there is little difference between the two aside from the frame rate when in HDV mode. I understand that both cameras downsample HD to SD (which differs in both frame rate and resolution), but I don't want to assume that the HDV portion of the camera operates under the same rules and limitations as standard definition PAL / NTSC. Any insight is appreciated!
