Stephen Bruno Posted December 21, 2005 Share Posted December 21, 2005 (edited) I have seen various POV's with arms interacting within the shots, Being John Malkavich for example, This is not one of those "I am shooting a feature tommorrow and need last second advise" type of questions, im just curious. My questions are: How is this usally lit? how is the camera mounted? are the arms added in post? thanks for any tips. Edited December 21, 2005 by G . Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted December 21, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted December 21, 2005 Usually a camera mounted to a shoulder and the operator's own arms being used for the actor's (the actor is operating) unless the framing is tight enough that the actor can stand more to one side of the operator and reach over convincingly (i.e. it doesn't look like the hands are coming from too far off. Sometimes you even have one person for the right arm & hands and another person contributing the opposite arm and hands. On "Being John Malkovich" it was a lightweight 35mm camera (maybe an Aaton-III or Moviecam-SL) attached to John Malkovich's shoulder when necessary (i.e. when his own hands were in the POV.)
