P2 onto hard drive without laptop?

Are there any devices currently availible that can take a P2 card and move all the data to hard drive automatically with no lap top? I need one that can work in on battery, or at least by car adaptor. size isnt too much of a requirement, maybe 100Gb or less

Sure, Panasonic have made a device to do exactly that.

Unfortunately it takes small, expensive 2.5" hard disks, so it's really just another intermediate stage before you put it... somewhere else.

Have you considered going direct to hard drive from the camera? I just discovered the FireStore from a company named Focus Enhancements that seems like a good solution to the still-expensive P2 cards. I haven't had the chance to try this out yet, so I can't vouch for its quality, but it's priced at about $1,500 for 100 GB. Focus' website lists the release date as early 2006 for the HVX-compliant model. Has anybody here had any experience with these drives?

Thats exaclty what I was looking for.

The 60gb model at 1800 bucks is pretty expensive, and cant hook directly to the cam. I have 5 photogs to outfit so 5 4gig cards at 650 each is like 3200 bucks, plus the 1800 for the download unit.

If anyone hears about one of those being availible for the SDC-700 model let me know.
