sdepino
I just bought my first super 8 camera and I was wondering if I would have any trouble with the film getting messed up with airport x-ray scanners? Anyone know anything about this?

Robert Hughes
Here's the short summary: It's just like still film. Subject your film to as little x-ray inspection as possible; the more your film goes thru the x-rays, the more fogged it gets. Never put film in your luggage; send it through with your carry-on. Never put your film in a lead-lined bag; they just turn up the x-ray machine to burn through the shielding. Ask first if they'll hand inspect; sometimes they do, sometimes not. Carry lower ASA film; fast film fogs faster (say that 3x fast). Edited January 29, 2006 by Robert Hughes
