Joshua Rheaume
I was wondering if changing the shutter speed on a video camera would be like changing the frames per second on a film camera? I need to shoot some footage in a high speed so I can slow it all down in post without getting a blurry picture.

Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted February 7, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted February 7, 2006 Using a shorter exposure time (high shutter speed) is standard operating procedure when shooting video to be slowed-down in post, but it only reduces blurriness -- it doesn't help make the slo-mo less steppy-looking. To get really smooth slow-motion, you need to shoot at higher frame rates.
